Apparently Lucullus was a Roman emperor, according to the staff at this wonderful restaurant. The restaurant occupies what used to be his house, and we were dining in the servants quarters. Not that you would know it, but it is nice to be given a bit of background info. I don't think I have eaten anywhere else that has been... More

There are many good restaurants in Hvar, but few like Lucullus. Having dined here several times now, I can promise you will find few finer combinations of food, ambience & fun loving, personal service. Dario & the team are amongst the friendliest locals on the island, and I guarantee you will have a night to remember. The house specialty fish... More

Beautiful restaurant with excellent food & super friendly staff. We shared the fish, baked in a wood burning stove. I'm a huge seafood fan and this was up there with the best of them. The staff were incredibly nice & helpful. There was also a guitarist in the restaurant. Seemed a little cheesy at first but he was great!! Really... More

Upon telling friends that we were travelling to Croatia, many of them had useful advice to give us. One piece of useful advice was "the food isn't great". It was useful because it left me wondering how this could be, especially if you like seafood and wine - both items that Croatia has in abundance. The fact is, it's not... More

I am at a loss as to what to say. We arrived at around 14:00 on the island. Smelled something wonderful as we looked for our accommodations, and finally identified this place. Dinner was absolutely wonderful, I'm from Northern California so what do I know; the local cheeses, white wines, and reds where different in such an excellent way. But... More

We had the fish carpaccio and lobster spaghetti which both were great. Very good service with a bit of sparkling and dessert wine on the house and an extra dish. We were very pleased with this place.

Eating is a social juncture and is a symbiosis of food, drink , friendship and ultimately is a culmination of the experience . At Lucullus you are made to feel at home amongst friends and are treated with honesty and passion. The food is all local and as such can't be faulted. To be succinct this is food amongst friends.... We were staying at the Villa Nora, a fabulous little hotel, and Lucullus was nearby (right downstairs as we later realized), plus my husband was really enticed by the frogs’ legs on the menu. Waitstaff were really, really pleasant and friendly and in addition to our introductory prosecco, gave him a sample of the level of spice (too hot!) possible... More

The staff were super friendly, they also gave a few free extras which adds to the experience - taste of Croatian sparkling wine, appetisers and a digestif. The food was very tasty however my mine was a little over salted.
