A bit of an experience

This was an interesting restaurant to say the least. The food was a bit different to some of the other eateries and it trades on its 'masterchef' reputation. The food was enjoyable although we never got a chance to order dessert or coffee as they starting packing up at around 9pm and seemed to... read more

This was an interesting restaurant to say the least. The food was a bit different to some of the other eateries and it trades on its 'masterchef' reputation. The most delicious, beautiful meal I've ever had, and what a lovely venue! A very nice, relaxed environment with some very helpful, attentive and friendly wait staff. The food - while more expensive than the usual tourist hot-spots - was absolutely divine. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Hvar. The steak 'hvar style' was the most succulent and delicious thing I've... More

Lovely waiter, chatty! Food was good quality and really nice. Don't bother going if you want rubbish food as they don't do spoons style chips and pizza etc. Just good quality local cuisine. Sea bass was mouthwatering! And tuna steak was fab too. Deffo would come Again & recommend

It is not difficult to find good sea food restaurants in Croatia. Golden Shell attracted us as a more potentially refined dining experience, for which we are willing to pay a premium. The food was indeed good, but the overall experience did not live up to expectations. My wife chose one dish (sea bass with saffron sauce and polenta) specifically... More

I guess the name of the streets changed about a year ago and google maps has not updated it. If you are by the hotel you won't find it. Here is how you find it. Go to Cafe Marin in the big square by the church. Walk up the steps past last Cafe Marin. Take a right at the Sosa... More

The Golden Shell is run by a family that loves what they do and work to share their passion for the local food of Hvar. There is a creativity and care which combines with their passion that creates a unique dining experience. If you find yourself within a 100 miles and appreciate spectacular fresh food, get there.

Had a very pleasant experience here. Although named slow food, we were the first guests and service was quite fast. Food was cooked when we arrived (we could smell it), and delicious! We had the spaghetti with prosciutto and truffles - very nice. For entree I had steak and my girlfriend had sea bass - we were quite happy with... More

Try to visit before they close for the season. "Fluffy" (Antonio) our waiter, and his family are producing delicious food, fresh imaginative and in a calm and leafy atmosphere. Great wine selection too. I had the brodetto ( a classic Croatian dish), and my friends tried the lamb in 2 different sauces, everything was perfect. Not to be missed.

I cannot rave about this place enough. Not only was the food the most exquisite we ate on our whole trip, but the service was out of this world. The restaurant is a wonderful little family run place, and with Dad and sister in the kitchen, we were served by the son who was an absolute delight. He recommended excellent... More

This family run restaurant is a must visit for foodies! The service was incredible with Tony the son of the owner helping us out with recommendations for the rest of our holiday. Must try on the menu is the Coconut lamb....so tender and the sauce was delicious. This small restaurant is definitely one of Hvar's hidden secrets.
