Different, not bad, different

We are New Yorkers and we know Italian food, pizza and antipasta. This place has good Antipasta, like nothing you ever saw before but good. Same for the Pizza, looks weird takes pretty good.

Great fresh calamari in sauce; awesome zza; delicious drinks made by skilled bartenders; need I say more?!

My friend and I visited this restaurant on a Tuesday night. It was not crowded and we found a great table outside on the patio. We had a multiple course, Italian meal and it was the closest thing to the Italian food I've enjoyed in Italy. Great ambience, attentive waiter, delicious food. We sat and ate for 2 hours, pretending... More

With a little help from our waiter, my husband and I enjoyed a light, but VERY tasty anniversary dinner that began with an antipasti selection that was amazing: Hot Coppa (like proscuitto with less fat), La Tur (a creamy cheese), Alto Badia (nutty, medium cheese slice) with Artichoke puree and Peach mostado. The flavors were incredible! I so much want... More

They have converted what was a loud restaurant due to close tables into an intolerable one by piping in loud electro funk music at nightclub sound levels. The hostess told us we had to wait 10-15 min (became 20) because they were underserved. WHat? Oh by the way we had a reservation! When we were seated at one of Six... More

My husband and I joined another couple for dinner at Bettola recently. We were seated at the banquette near the open kitchen. Not long after being seated, the staff fired up the wood-fire oven, creating an enormous cloud of smoke which permeated the entire area to a point where the staff had to open both the front and back doors... I visited Bettola on a business trip with a large group of people. The atmosphere was very nice, our service was very good. Overall, I found the meal good but the appetizer was practically microscopic. The same was true of my entrée which was gnocchi with oxtail ragú. In fairness though, I am not sure if these were the regular... More

This was an impromptu visit and after flat tire and other somewhat bothersome circumstances, but the meal was outstanding and the atmosphere great. Lunch service is sort of tavolo calda style, ie you order at the bar and then sit and they bring you your order. Pizza good, sandwiches good and so are the salads. Will always go back when... More

We ate at Bettola last night for the second time and must say we were less than impressed this time. We had really good service which was the best part and the calamari appetizer was very good, but we both ordered pizzas and were very underwhelmed. The crust was chewy and soggy and the toppings were very scarce on both... More

Bettola has been a favorite but noticed on the last few visits that they are greatly reducing the amount of the meat. My favorite is the lamb sandwich and today I had to hunt for the lamb. Only very thin slices laid side by side, it threw off the balance of the ingredients. Side salad was much smaller too. Pollo... More
