This was my first experience with this restaurant. I was meeting some friends for dinner and wanted to do some "research" on this place. Went to Trip Adviser and read some reviews. Most talked about the service, but I wanted to keep an open mind. It was the typical restaurant scene on a Friday evening that happens in most cities.... More

Generally speaking the food is very good especially considering that there are very few Italian options in Birmingham. However, time and time again the service and overall shady nature of Bettola has made the dining experience miserable. Most recently a friend that I dined with was charged for the same meal 3 times on her debit card (the same exact... More

Not worth going to this restaurant! Overpriced and very little to eat. The atmosphere is horrible. You get seated at a bench within elbow reach of the couple next to you. I don't know how anyone could compare this restaurant to an Italian trattoria.....and yes I have been to Italy so I'm speaking from experience.

Nothing special, pasta was okay, small portions, pizza was doughy, service was condescending, small restaurant, whole place is an attempt to be snooty and trendy...wouldn't go back

The atmosphere was really nice but the food was not very good. We had pizza. The crust tasted good but was too thin and it had very little toppings. My husband and I paid over $15 for a skimpy pizza and 2 small glasses of tea. The service was good though, prompt and courteous. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

Ok we came in tired from moving. The waitress recommended a really nice wine. We all got different dishes but I have to say the pizza was delicious and melt in your mouth goodness. I thought the service was excellent and the appetizers wine and pizza really good. We each got different ones and shared. I hope that the previous... More

Service was slow and started with the waiter pouring I've water in my chair. Later he made up for it by pouring water down my pants leg and in my shoe. Pasta dish was bland and hoping there might be some red pepper since most selections on menu were pizzas I requested pepper and got pepper... Small black pepper shaker.... More

Let me start by saying I go to Bettola fairly frequently (given all of the options in Bham). I very much enjoy the antipasti plates and the wood-fired pizza (filetto or Quattro formaggi are my faves). But tonight, for the second time, I ordered a red sauce pasta dish and it was horrible. The lamb ragu tasted like Chef Boyardee... More

Our night started out ok, as my wife and I were seated right away for our reservation. We were quickly attended to by our waiter who gave extensive reviews and recommendations of the unique cocktails before taking our drink order. This is where the night turned sour. From that point on we saw our waiter no more than 3 times,... More

This restaurant has excellent food, pizza, and breads. The owner has built a large tile oven which was imported from Italy. The breads are fresh baked and divine. The fish , pasta, and meats are excellent, I love the three cheese pasta and the Lasagna.
