Not the best Mexican experience in Birmingham

My husband and I asked our teenage son where he wanted to go for his Birthday, and since he wanted Mexican we decided to go to a very nice area of town where we knew there was a decent Mexican Restaurant. We arrived to a line at the cash register/order-taking-area and had some banter. The line took... read more

I have eaten at Cantina before my most recent dining experience. The food has always been hit or miss in taste. This time it was mostly miss. The order was for chips and salsa, fish tacos, vegetarian tacos and garlic fries. The chips and salsa were an unusual color for salsa, an orangish color that looked much like tomato soup... More

Food was ok. Cashier had a sour attitude. Portions small for a $14 lunch that didn't include any chips or rolls. When I requested some I was informed that they did not provide any samples. I would have to go back to the cashier and order them. This my first and only time I will be here.

Conveniently located in Pepper Place, this has become a local favorite. Warm and inviting with patio seating and a large room for group gatherings. The fish tacos are outstanding as are the nachitos. Some of the side I have tried are the garlic fries, corn in a cup, and rice and beams. They also have beer and wine. Good place... More

starting off, i don't know what all the fuss is about. we recently went there on our roadtrip and had a great time. location looks really good. it's counter service, but i don't consider that an inconvenience. plus, the waiters were really nice guys (one of them gave us some hints on which places to visit on our trip) and... Mediocre food - at best - and prices are too high, all things considered. Counter service and everything is premade

Cantina takes an updated approach to Tex-Mex standards and appeals to those who also like freshness. 7 of us conducted a little business while enjoying the queso and the guacamole in advance of delicious and affordable entrees. The gaucho steak and fish tacos were especially good. Try this place if ambiance is unimportant and you have a hankering for good... More

This restaurant has been partnering with a coupon company to allow people to purchase a certificate for food at a discount. Between the certificates that I buy, and several of my friends, I have been eating at Cantina about once a week for several months. I am aware that one of the terms/conditions on the certificate states "dine in only,"... More

Went here for a private party & had excellent service & very good food. I really liked the Duck empanadas they served. We will be back soon for a regular sit down meal to give proper feedback.

When there for a private party over the weekend and the food they served was great. Was about to brag about the Duck Empanadas and the Chorizo Quesadillas, but noticed they were not on the regular menu? Based on what we had, I'd give it a try...
