Pleasantly surpised

We stopped by late one Saturday night after a comedy show. It's located downtown and looks a little sketchy! We decided to try it anyway. There was a line when we got there, but that didn't discourage us. We ordered the Fried Chicken Baker and a Gyro. The baker was HUGE!!!!!! It was delicious... read more

Stopped on a Saturday at 1230 for lunch. Beautiful day. Outside seating was nice, although the booths are all slanted down because they are on an incline. The gyro was actually a wrap. It came rolled up in a tortilla not a pita and was pretty tasteless. Not enough meat and the lettuce was overpowering (had that bagged chopped lettuce... More

Great food, great environment, always fun and delicious! They have a great outdoor seating area for large groups so you can eat dinner and hang out. Open all the time so it is super convenient.

Holy mother of god. Have you ever had a cheesteak rolled up in a fresh pita? Went to Al's after a Sunday night concert and was not disappointed. When we walked in the place was packed, and we knew we were in for a treat. My friends and I loved it. Cheeseburger was average, but cheesesteaks, bakers, and gyros were... More

We had the loaded baked potato. 3 of us ate it and still did not finish it. Great food. Mint tea was great also.

Visited with some friends, food portions are large and very delicious. Being a short hop from both uab and five points is a plus. Pleasant outdoor sitting area, if you just want something small the chili cheese fries are very tasty.

This is one of my favorite places to go when I am craving something to both fill me up and taste incredible! Personally I LOVE their baked potatoes! They are huge and so gooey and perfect! Another thing I love is their chicken fingers.. Very well cooked, whatever they coat them with is amazing and their seasoning on the fries... More

I always get the Turkey Melt or BBQ Chicken Baker, which is the largest loaded potato you've ever seen. It's so fantastic! Their fries are fantastic. Their honey mustard dipping sauce is great, and this is coming from a honey mustard Connoisseur. It's great sitting outside, if you can find a table. It's very small inside, so just expect close... Al's offer a nice menu for lunch and has some good gyros but not much has been done to keep up the seating or kitchen. Worth a visit but do not expect too much.
