Great Italian food, quality good, quantity good and cost is very fair. Great family place. Definitely try if in the area.

We were craving pizza and not a lot of great places in this area. I recalled that Salvatore's used to have some skills! So we headed out, and actually sat outside ... The heavy hwy 31 traffic had dissipated and nice weather. Funny cheesy fountain out there. Great simple Italian salad, crisp and fresh. Pizza ordered was thin crust and... More

The chicken parmesan was excellent. The angel hair pasta was cooked just right. The salad was nice and cold with a good dressing. Garlic bread was hot and crunchy without too much oil. The pizza was hot and flavorful. For a casual trip to get pizza with my son, I would go again, but the TVs on the walls are... More

The pizza was hot and cheesy. The sauce was not overly spicy. The restaurant has a very casual atmosphere. We had to go to the front counter to get a to-go box. A nice rustic place to eat.

Our son lives in B'ham and has been waiting for us to visit so he could take us there. And now, I know why! We ordered 1/2 of a Sicilian and it was BETTER than advertised. The crust was buttery and crisp, though thick (think deep dish). The pie was not "over-sauced" and had a tremendous amount of cheese! We... More

During my recent business trip to Birmingham I managed to eat here 3 times. (twice in one day) I had a chicken parmigiana sandwich on one visit and pizza on the other two visits. After living in Chicago for 11 years I consider myself in the "Chicago Camp" when it comes to pizza but I still appreciate NY style pizza... More

On a trip to Birmingham last week, my wife and I stopped at Salvatore's for lunch. The counter person was surly and abrupt, and didn't smile when he waited on us. We ordered spaghetti and meatballs, chicken parmesan and a slice of pizza. The pizza was average. The spaghetti was blah, though the meatballs were tasty. The sauce on the... More

We rarely eat pizza, so when we do we want it to be memorable and worth all the calories. Since our favorite place closed we have been having to drive to Whole foods to pick up a special order pizza...because we do not like the typical peperoni cheap option that is sold at chain delivery places. So we were excited... More

If your quest is to find a good New York style pizza in the deep south, Salvatore's is a great place to start. As you pull up, you may be thrown off by the image of a pizza place sharing an old fast food building with a Subway, but don't let it discourage you. The crust is thin and nicely... More
