Driving through Alabama, we settled on Rojo for lunch because it was dog friendly and had pretty good reviews. While it is tucked away in a neighborhood, our GPS had no problem finding it. It's a different type of restaurant, not at all what we expected. You seat yourself, and we were able to find a table on the patio... More

Rojo is an unusual place. to say the least. It features both American and Mexican fare on the menu. I have never been disappointed in any choice I made. There are many great draft beer choices as well. The outdoor dining is great in the more temperate months of the year. Take a stroll down Highland Ave. after your meal... More

Went here for my birthday dinner. I highly recommend their Paella, which is perfectly spiced (note the portion was huge) and the sangria. They have a really well heated patio during the cold months as well.

This is one of my favorite places to eat. I love having a margarita out on the patio that overlooks the park. They cover it in winter so you can eat there year round. They have two sides to the menu--American and Tex Mex. I love both sides. (Though the nachos and meditteranean quesadilla are my favs) You'll find a... More

Some friends and I were traveling through Alabama and stopped here to eat some Latin food. I have to say this is now one of my favorite restaurants and plan to come back next time I get a chance! The food was very well prepared, the staff was helpful in accommodating first time visitors, and the atmosphere was informal but... More

We visited Rojo on a whim as we like to try places off the beaten path. It is a joint that serves a nice mix of food. Our party included 4 adults and 4 teenage boys. Though we had a variety of tastes, all palates were satisfied. The place is a joint in that you walk up to the counter;... More

We live in the neighborhood and used to go to Rojo on a regular basis. We haven't been in a while because we have been trying out all the great new restaurants downtown. We went back tonight and I don't think I'll be back again. The place is really going downhill. It is really dirty and loud. I waited 40 minutes... More

Had lunch here at the recommendation of a friend. It was everything she said. The out door patio was happy and peaceful. The shrimp quesadilla was perfect. the shrimp were tender and went well with the salsa. I also had the black bean and corn soup which was spicy and perfect - I had expected a typical bean soup -... We went to this restaurant after reading that it is dog-friendly. Thank goodness for GPS, since we never would have found it without one. The atmosphere was great, and the food was quite good. There is a nice bar indoors, and sitting on the patio with our dog wasn't a problem. Although we read that parking can be problematic, we... More

Interesting place. Only tried it once and we liked the food well enough. You order at the counter and they bring it to you. Like a neighborhood hangout more than anything. We haven't been back just because there's no good parking and it's only a one hour lunch hour that we have. Definitely worth trying as the food was plentiful.
