God bless America & Indian food

I wish I could give a negative rating for this restaurant. Let me start off with what we've ordered. We started with samosa chat, bhel puri and chicken 65 for appetizers. Bhel puri was all drowned in some weird gravy and was the worst I've ever had. I never knew someone could be so bad at making... read more

Recommendation by Bangladeshi family friend well justified. Food was outstanding, service first class, and most reasonably priced. Everything was fresh, great paneer, and as good as Birmingham, England!!!

A plethora of wonderful goes on in your mouth. Sizable portions. Spectacular taste. Wonderful staff. Googled Indian food on our way back to LA and so glad we did. Would definitely go again.

My bf and I visited on 12.19.14. After drink orders and them bringing the papadum and chutneys to the table, my bf, said don't eat the papadum.. it is hot. Papadum -- hot? hmm. so I had to try it after that.. yimminy!.. The decor was decorated for Christmas, Indian Christmas music in the background and what appeared to be... More

I was passing through Birmingham en route to Northwestern Alabama and I thought I would give another one of the towns many Indian restaurants a try. This one is located in a quirky area and has a nice interior. The staff are very friendly and the food is varied and very good on the lunch buffet. Lots of choices and... More

We regularly drive the hour plus for Taj because there's just not much access to Indian food where we live and Taj is good. We've had dinner as well as their lunch buffet. It's good, wholesome Indian food...nothing special or cutting edge. The decor is dated. The staff are reserved. It's inexpensive and predictable, but satisfying.

For the last 5 years I've worked within walking distance to Taj India and wish I had known about this place before. The Lunch Buffet changes daily and is at a great price. If you are not accustomed to Indian food then I highly suggest the buffet as a way to give it a try. Every thing here is fresh... More

Decent Indian Food, friendly service. Family owned and food and service depend on which family members are working. Buffet lunch and order off the menu at night. They have two festivals a year that are packed, make reservations for these events. Otherwise can always get a table.

First, let me state the food is well prepared and authentic. The staff are very attentive, nice, and helpful. Now having said that, I must say it simply is not for me. I hate cilantro, and I quickly learned to my disappointment, this is a favorite Indian herb -it was in everything --almost at the molecular level. All I could... More
