Great food, good people

I had heard of this place from some, and I decided to try it out. The food here is served in a cafeteria-like serving line, and includes many Soul Foods. I would more than likely return here again.

I visited Fife after visiting the 16th Street Baptist Church. The staff was very very friendly and welcoming. The food was good and authentic, definity not for calorie counters. if you want real soul food, this is the place. LOL!. I would definitely visit again when I'm in Birmingham again. Southern Hopistality at it's very very best.

This place is a local landmark. Old school cafeteria steam table food line with a mind boggling selection of meats and fresh vegetable dishes. If home cooked soul food is your craving in downtown Birmingham, this is your place. Very good fresh food. Very busy during peak hours.

I went with a group of Civil Rights pilgrims to various sites in Georgia and Alabama, and on the second day we had lunch here. We were a party of 18, and they set aside a long table for us (four people had to sit at a separate booth). The servers were all courteous and friendly, and when we left... More

It was slightly greasy but not as bad as a Waffle House. I liked it but my significant other did not. It was decently priced and had a good selection.

I was impressed with this restaurant. Typical downtown look, but the food inside was beyond my expectations. Enjoyed the atmosphere and the people. Food was very good in my opinion and the sweet tea just perfect. They should bottle it and sell it.

I ate here a bit when I was a student 20 or so years ago. It has not changed. The food is plentiful and better than most typical chain restaurants. It is southern food in all of it's glory or gory. It's not fancy but down home with mostly locals.

I have seen this restaurant here for 10 years but had never eaten here. My friend was buying and recommended it so we tried it. It is a standard cafeteria line with several meats (today chicken livers, country fried steak, fried fish, stew, and others) and several vegetables. The restaurant is an older building but clean. The food was OK... More
