Tops in Birmingham

I have dined here on many occasions and regardless of the season Chris and Idie Hastings always create something spectacular and amazing. It is without a doubt one of the best restaurants in the southeast.

Food expensive. Small quantities. Restaurant loud, We were seated by a large group of Health South big wigs, our waiter forgot we existed when they arrived. Food was bland.

My girlfriend and I were in Birmingham for the weekend and, of course, we consulted TripAdvisor for the best eats in Birmingham. My girlfriend had previously dined here and had great things to say about it, so we booked our reservation for the "chef's counter". Suffice it to say, we were not disappointed. I ordered the duck confit and it... More

I know that this restaurant has many admirers, so having heard many good comments from others, I have wanted to go to Hot & Hot for sometime, but it seemed that every time I visited Birmingham, we went to other restaurants. This last visit, we did dine at Hot & Hot; and sadly I have to say that I found... More

We came as a large group on a Friday night. We had a reservation for 8:15, but unfortunately still weren't seated until about 8:40 (and with 12 people, we were there until 11). The excellent service and food made up for it. The chef came out to say hello, and our waiter could answer all of our questions. I had... More

Don't miss out on this one! Even my husband, who isn't near as much as a foodie as I am, loves Hot & Hot, although it took him years to actually try it because he couldn't get past the name. Sitting at the chef's counter is a must, but get reservations! Come with the mindset to enjoy and take your... More

Great place for a date or small dinner party. Small place with great service and uniquely prepared food. Always something new to try. Bartenders are great as well and have great suggestions and fantastic drinks. High end restaurant but definitely worth a visit if in Birmingham.

Daily menu of what's in from the coast and the farms, nicely executed. Definitely a testament to primarily Southern-sourced and heritage ingredients, with world-cuisine executions. Chuck Eye grilled over hickory was awesome, and a smart use of an under-appreciated cut. Nice smattering of fish preparations.

As well as being our wedding anniversary it was also the last night of our holiday. We chose this place as it was close to where we were staying and also had rave reviews, and we weren't disappointed. We were only able to get a booking for quite late but at no point did we feel hurried. When we arrived... More
