Average Upscale - Not Bad, Not Great

We have eaten at Bottega twice (several years between visits) and both times came away unimpressed. The food was good. I had Spaghetti with Clams and Shrimp. I could nitpick about the size of the entree (it was very small) and one of my clams had grit, but the overall taste was very good. My... read more

OK, we really DID fall in love here! We have been married now for 17 years! This is a restaurant offering a combination of quaint cafe and glitzy mod pub! Bottega Cafe has fabulous appetizers, meals, and desserts! You will be enchanted!

Staff were very friendly and accommodating - helping us move our booking slightly earlier and being very attentive throughout. Food was very tasty - the Beef Carpachio and cheese souffle starters were very tasty. For Entree the duck meatballs and Scallops Entrees were good portions and well put together dishes. Thank you for a nice meal and evening!

We arrived for our reservation an hour early on the off chance we could be seated a little early. The staff was incredibly nice, seated us at the bar and had us at a table half an hour later. Love the ambiance! Banquette seating throughout with understated warm tones and just the right lighting. If there was music we did... More

My colleague's husband, who is from Birmingham, recommended this restaurant to my husband and myself. The restaurant is lovely, but crowded! We arrived at 6:30, only to find every table taken and to be told that we would have an hour and a quarter wait. Not knowing the area, we decided to wait (we figured that looking for another restaurant... More

Frank Stitt is a believer in the local food movement-to the extent he even grows a lot of the produce used at Bottega on his own farm. The menu is extremely creative and highlights the use of local foodstuffs. The restaurant itself (there are two-one is more relaxed and has a cafe atmosphere) is reminiscent of a fine Italian establishment.... More

Do you like to feel important? Do you need pretend that your really cool and popular? Is it important to surround yourself with like-minded, mindless people who will spend a ton of money on below average, incredibly trendy food that average (real) people don't enjoy because it makes you feel important? Then Bottega is for you! Either part, doesn't matter.... More

Bottega is one of our very favorite places in Birmingham. The building is just beautiful. The food is excellent and service is exceptional - both knowledgeable and warm without being intrusive. Though more on the formal side there isn't an ounce of stuffiness here. The menu changes daily. But you can usually find beef carpaccio offered - and it is... More

It's beyond rare that a restaurateur becomes an icon in his home town. Mr. Stitt has. He's a James Beard award winner. Consistent excellence. Bottega is also special because it's two treats in one. They have formal dining with reservations and they have the adjacent cafe where we chose to go. Many so called upscale restaurants would love to deliver... More

While in BHM on business, a friend recommended Bottega. A colleague and I walked in on a Thursday evening and, even though the restaurant was quite full, we were able to have a table. Despite other comments, I found service to be excellent. Our server knew every detail of every dish on the menu, was able to recommend an excellent... More
