For great seafood, fresh vegetables, delicious pies and an ideal place for southern hospitality, The Bright Star is a winning choice. The owners are always visible and hospitable.

Delicious food with a great atmosphere. An historic landmark with incredible food and service. I highly recommend a visit. Lunch prices are very moderate.

Bessemer, AL was an industrial community centered around a growing steel industry. The Bright Star restaurant was there during Bessemers glory days. The glory has faded for the community, but The Bright Star is still a bright spot in Bessemer! I have eaten steak dinners at many of the famous locations in the USA; the Greek tenderloin at The Star... More

In addition to the restaurant being a part of a century of history, the good food and service, as well as the atmosphere are great.

We had lunch with friends at this wonderful historic restaurant in Bessemer. Even though my husband is a Birmingham native, he had never known about the Bright Star. Our friends told us about its history of being the oldest continuous service restaurant in Alabama. While the cuisine is Greek in its seasoning, it is not overbearing. Among our group's order... Now my two daughters go there to eat also since they grew up eating there, and meeting us there for Dinner when driving in from college at Alabama. Always... More

Love the Greek style snapper throats!! Always check out the side for the day. Spinach or squash can't be beat. One can always have a baked potato but you just don't have sides offered like the Bright Star !!!!

Each and every visit to this sweet little restaurant is an unforgettable experience. We love sitting down to a meal here either on a date or with friends and family. Each entree I have had is delicious, but my favorite is the most incredible dessert.....the BAKLAVA CHEESECAKE!!!!!
