Walking through downtown Santa Cruz was not a good representation of the quaint and beautiful wineries we would encounter later in our stay. The building facades are old and dirty. The Plaza square was graffitied. It has such potential to be a quaint town center if some investment was made in the building frontages and cleanliness of the town itself.

We stayed in Santa Cruz three days and this was the best place to eat. We were surprised at the value of this hotel resturant. We had a late lunch there twice and breakfast twice and were never disappointed. Very good for a hotel resturant. Wine list was excellent.

We are experienced travellers who try to find the best in things. We were so so disappointed with this town. Yes it has lovely vineyards but the town makes no effort for visitors. We had to find a taxi driver to take us to various vineyards. The only nice restaurant..La Famiglia was closed both nights we were there and the... More

We had a very good meal in the Hotel which was a ten minute walk from the hotel. On the square. The service was very good and metal was delicious.

The town is well laid out, close to some good wineries, has a great museum (with free parking inside the gates of the museum), a Casino (which I don't know anything about) and looked to have numerous street stalls selling crafts and artifacts. Parking is a bit iffy so plan your town visit accordingly. Previous guests at our hotel said... More

Ugly city and people. Nothing worth while to see... If it weren't for its closeness to all the winerys and the Cardoen family, this city would be a complete dump.

We enjoyed a very good lunch here after seeing the excellent Museum next-door. Try the corn pie. The museum is worth a couple of hours and the audio guide is very good. Both are owned by the same man and are recommended.

On a wintery day, after spending a couple of hours in the excellent Colchagua Museum, we walked around the corner into the Santa Cruz restaurant and sat by the open wood fire. The 'menu for the day' was a Chilean 3 course meal with a glass of local wine served with fresh rolls and salsa. It was delicious and filling.... More

to be fair we tried to visit Santa Cruz but could not find parking and traffic was terrible. They were preparing for a small festival and streets were blocked and the people seemed frustrated with the preparations. We left and a short distance East of Santa Cruz came upon a small town with a local market. We decide to park... More

We stayed in Santa Cruz as a base for winery tours. As such it is a great location. The central square (Plaza des Armes) is charming and the Hotel Santa Cruz is luxurious. We did not make it to the museum but did walk around town quite a bit. Other than the main square with two overpriced gift shops, It... More
