Tasca da Esquina - a place to eat.

As I travel many times to São Paulo it's quite usual to try to find new places. As Portuguese I prefer to eat where I trust and where I know it's good. This places I heard on one of my last visits here to São Paulo. One of my colleagues told me to try this place. Here I am right... read more

Tasca, in Portugal, refers to a modest tavern serving basic food and wine in a modest lodgement. But this Tasca da Esquina in São Paulo, although having a relatively modest premises and décor, serves outstanding Portuguese fare for discerning palates. Its renditions of "bacalhau ao forno" (oven cooked cod) and "bacalhau ao Braz" (cod Braz style) coming as two portions... More

We have been at this restaurant many times for lunch during the week as it is close to work. The food is very good! They have an executive menu at lunchtime during the week with a very good price for starter, main and dessert. On fridays they have a cod fish (bacalhau nas natas) which is amazing! The place is... Superb food, great service & atmosphere! You do feel special and with a feeling of a great night & dinner after being there! The manager Edrey is an amazing host! Also recommend the special afternoons with traditional delicatessens! To come back many many many times! Xx

Surprisingly one of the best Portuguese "Tasca" in town, and how delicious is that Pastel de Belém with Ginja Icecream, just marvelous.

With a cozy modern decor, this is one of the best places for "bacalhau" in SP. Moreover, it is also at a lower price than others in the same area. Tasting desert menu was also very interesting. I would definitely recommend and return!

Food was great, service was average, but make reservations as it is not a big restaurant (about 20 tables, perhaps).

I've eaten at this place three or four times. As other reviewer's have noted very good authentic Portuguese food. It's quite strange that Italian food in São Paulo is not authentic Italian but Portuguese food is. Having said that this is a more upmarket take on Portuguese food. Stylish surroundings, excellent wine list and very good service. My only criticism... More

Came highly recommended . That's where it stops. We arrived on time but the head chef was not there thus everything was delayed. I requested Caldo verde followed by Arroz de Pato as a main dish and wife had no starter but Acorda de Camarao. That's where things started to go wrong. First the delay then no soup which, I... My partner and I love good restaurants. And when a friend who had lived in Portugal and has a great liking for its cuisine invited us to Tasca da Esquina, we were surprised we had never heard of it. Was its existence a secret or were we out of that particular loop? Now it is near the top of our... More

Staying in Jardins

Neighborhood Profile
Jardins
Located just below important Paulista Avenue, Jardins is the junction of four smaller neighborhoods: Jardim Paulista, Jardim América, Jardim Europa and Jardim Paulistano. It is an upper-class area, offering a variety of things to do, including shopping, museums and parks. The neighborhood is well known for “Oscar Freire”– the most luxurious street in the city, packed with high-end boutiques. In Jardins you will also find a trendy museum, São Paulo Museum of Image and Sound (MIS), which people often line up for hours to visit. If green space is what you're after, take time to relax at Trianon Park, a refuge in the heart of Paulista Avenue.
