A Sao Paolo must

Don't be fooled by the picture above - this is a lovely little tapas restaurant in the Jardins area of Sao Paolo. We went on our last day of holiday and left wishing we'd found it earlier because we would definitely have eaten there again if we'd had the time. The service is good and the food... read more

The Tasca da Esquina is the São Paulo's branch of the homonymous house of chef Vitor Sobral, located in Lisbon. In addition to the regular menu, there is the option to do a tasting menu, with 4, 5, 6 or 7 dishes plus dessert. To tell the truth, this return to the Tasca da Esquina was a little bit frustrating.... More

Nice atmosphere, ok service. The menu is basically Portuguese food. I tried the house recommendation: octopus & rice and it was pretty average

The restaurant itself is very nicely put together with exposed brick, aged wood etc. The staff were also really helpful making recommendations and quick service. We went for a cod and chickpea salad and aubergine and jamon for starters....they are massive!!! You could easily share one between two. They were both good but the cod and chickpea was especially tasty,... More

Nice atmosphere with good wine list to accompany your meal. The food is very tasty and well prepared. My favorite dish is the "Açorda de camarão". Another interesting dish is " Raia confitada, tomate seco, damascos e creme de espinafre". If you have never ate a marine ray its is a good recipe for your debut.

A friend and I were travelling through Sao Paolo en route to Iguazu Falls and chose Tasca da Esquina due to its proximity to the hotel. This turned out to be an excellent decision. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful (when they didn't have the wine we asked for they even sent us a complimentary glass of another!) and... More

I had been to Tasca da Esquina twice last month and it already became one of my favourites in SP. Start with "Bolinho de Bacalhau", creamy and crunch cod croquet. Then order one of the cod fish dishes, simply delicious. I had the "duo" which is a combination of cod fish Braz and cod fish cooked in the oven. Amazing!... More

Excellent service with English speaking staff, we enjoyed a 5 course tasting menu that included fresh ingredients to create tasty masterpieces. Portions were appropriate and artfully presented, prices was reasonable. Portuguese cuisine at its finest.

As I travel many times to São Paulo it's quite usual to try to find new places. As Portuguese I prefer to eat where I trust and where I know it's good. This places I heard on one of my last visits here to São Paulo. One of my colleagues told me to try this place. Here I am right... More

Tasca, in Portugal, refers to a modest tavern serving basic food and wine in a modest lodgement. But this Tasca da Esquina in São Paulo, although having a relatively modest premises and décor, serves outstanding Portuguese fare for discerning palates. Its renditions of "bacalhau ao forno" (oven cooked cod) and "bacalhau ao Braz" (cod Braz style) coming as two portions... More

Neighborhood Profile
Jardins
Located just below important Paulista Avenue, Jardins is the junction of four smaller neighborhoods: Jardim Paulista, Jardim América, Jardim Europa and Jardim Paulistano. It is an upper-class area, offering a variety of things to do, including shopping, museums and parks. The neighborhood is well known for “Oscar Freire”– the most luxurious street in the city, packed with high-end boutiques. In Jardins you will also find a trendy museum, São Paulo Museum of Image and Sound (MIS), which people often line up for hours to visit. If green space is what you're after, take time to relax at Trianon Park, a refuge in the heart of Paulista Avenue.
