Deserves the fame!

Great, traditional Greek food in São Paulo. Come early or later than usual eating time, normally it is really crowded during weekend! Do not expect comfort. It is about the experience. There you will find (really find, there is no menu in the table, stand up and go choose your food! :)) a great... read more

I had read a lot of reviews and articles about this place - so a visit was long overdue. I visited the restaurant on a very very hot summer afternoon and was lucky not to wait for too long - there is no much room for waiting inside, and the temperature outside the restaurant was unbearable. Do not expect any... More

Acropolis is a long time established restaurant by "Mr. Trassos", a greek immigrant with an amazing life story, and a lifetime dedication to this place. Food is authentic and very well prepared. Although it is ready - the customer is directed to the kitchen where he sees and picks his dish - the food is always of great quality. Usually... More

when strolling through the Bom Retiro area, I fell on this place that was recommended in the last TAM Magazine. The owner stood at the entrance and guided potential guests inside. The decoration is 200% Greek, instead of a printed menu the guests enquire about available dishes directly at the counter to the kitchen. I had risotto with sea food... More

Well, I had the opportunity to visit this famous restaurant, commanded by a very friendly old man that stands in front of the restaurant to receive visitors. The place is tiny, but cozy. The main course, a plate called mussaká is a must. But this is the only good thing... the menu is expensive for regular meals... you may spend... More

I'm used to frequent this restaurant since the early 80's and always "Greek" (the owner) is a easy figure there on daily basis. His attention to the attendees, to the cuisine, to the organization, is always present there. It's normal to say about a person with, let's say, 60yo... 70yo... but note he's the unbelievable 98yo. The cuisine remain the... More

The restaurant looks fantastic and I went because I had read good reviews in the cheap eats section in Time Out. The walls are covered with awards which significantly all date from the early 90s. I mentioned to the owner that I was very keen to try the food and and he waved me to the kitchen where I was... More

the place is very simple but worthwhile a visit and try the food... you go to the kitchen window, talk with the cook, and make your option... flavor is excellent, service is not top notch but very acceptable for the style of the restaurant... greek wine is available.... price is reasonable... generally one order will be enough for two... best... For a 2-person meal, me and my wife asked an entree, 1 dish each, 1 dessert and 2 glasses of juice. That meal cost us a total of approximately US$80,00. Worth trying, certainly; but I did not think it THAT sensational.

If your goal is FOOD, Acropoles is one of the best place to go in São Paulo. This place is small and the manager won´t think twice to squeeze you to settle another person, but the food is amazing. Old and traditional, Acropoles has excellent "raw material" and spices in right proportion. They are not there for a long time... More
