We have been there for dinner. They try to offer German food. The beer is ok, but there are better beers in the Blumenau area. Nobody speaks German at the Frohsinn - somehow astonishing... The view is incredible, thats it.

My Brazilian friend and I visited this place based on the "reviews" in two very outdated books; Frommer's and Lonely Planet. It was clear from our experience that those reviews were either planted via paid publicity or the writers of those books were simply lazy and did not due their due diligence. Whatever the case, our visit to this place... More

We visited the °Frohsinn" as it was recommended by "Quattro Rodas", a brazilian travel guide. Location and setting: The location is very nice, on top of a hill with a great view over Blumenau. The interior is authentic german. Kitchen/Service: We arrived only at around 3:30 p.m. so we were one of a few guests. The kitchen was open, though.... More

My boyfriend and I shared a plate, because otherwise it would have been too expensive for us. We had Kassler (smoked pork) with Sauerkraut. The Kassler was roasted and totally dry, so definitely not cooked the German way. The beer was way too pricey, too. The service was excellent through.

I've been going to Frohsinn once a year for the last 15 or 20 years. Its location is fantastic, at the top of a hill, in the middle of the woods, with a beautiful view of downtown Blumenau and the Itajaí-Açu river. The restaurant was built in German style (Fachwerk), and compared to the fake German buidlings downtown (as the... More

Frohsinn was recommended by our taxi driver after another restaurant was closed. It is a beautiful location, but as other reviewers have mentioned, the service is horrific and the food expensive. The restaurant was nearly empty (during Oktoberfest), yet it still took over 30 minutes and multiple requests to receive menus. After seeing the prices of the food, coupled with... More

We visited this restaurant while in Santa Catarina. it was mentioned and / or recommended in three German travelguide books. I would recommend that all three take it out as soon as possible. I would not really expect to get German food in Brasil - this part is an adventure, however i do expect good food in Brazil. Up to... More
