Pineapple and cheese!

Whenever I'm in Rio I usually stop by once for lunch to get their filet mignon, pineapple and cheese sandwich and side of fries and cold cold beer. Great sandwich at a reasonable price, place is the real deal!

I never do because then Cervantes is closed! Nothing beats the file mignon with pineapple, cheese, a pinch of salt and two draft Brahmas!! Second favorite is the calabresa with pineapple, cheese and mustard. Perfect be it at noon, dinner time, or after a night out. Don't sit down, go to the stand up bar around the corner where they... I never seen the the sidewalk area closed, including late night visits, whilst the restaurant has regular open hours. On the open area the sandwiches are delicious, I love pork with pineapple. Very busy, very fast, high quality, lots of locals stopping by, you notice the mix of social backgrounds gathering after good food. I also sat at the restaurant,... More

Pineapple in nearly everything - it works! Delicious, thick, meaty sandwiches served in seconds. Charming place full of locals. Maybe don't order the cod balls - Baby Churro did and was served 12 instead of the stated 6. Took some eating to get through them. English menu offered.

The only Portuguese I speak is the word Chopp, and it was perfect for this place. Stopped by and was able to order a sandwich, beer, and water with ease. The food was quick, and delicious. Would definitely recommend stopping by for either a quick lunch or dinner, or perfect late night snack.

We wanted to experience a real Brazilian restaurant and this was the perfect choice. No-one spoke a word of English but it didn't matter. The food was wonderful, the value unbelievable and the waiters helpful and friendly. Our only mistake- ordering too much but a memorable evening. It is very unpretentious but that is what gives it such charm. It... More

Little local old restaurant that doesn't look much from the street but serves up quality sandwiches. Probably the tallest sandwich I have ever seen! Good prices for Copacabana too. Even had menu in English. Worth noting that not one sandwich came without pineapple so if you're not a fan, wouldn't recommend it.

Staying in Copacabana

Neighborhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
