Very nice sandwiches

They sell meat-based sandwiches with cheese and a pineapple slice. Yes, it sounds weird, but tastes surprisingly nice. The service is not the best but the price is fair. Note that this is a very small place, don't go with a big group (10+ people), there will probably not be room for everyone.

I went to this restaurant with my colleagues who are locals. They said it was the oldest restaurant in Rio. Unfortunately I think they might be right as the decor was terrible (some sort of sheet pinned to part of the ceiling covering up some disorder or other). Food was not much better. The dish I chose was recommended (some... More

We decided to visit this place once we read some good tips from many different books and forums. It's quite good but, probably I expected a better experience. They have flavorful dishes and big portions and staff is very kind. We spent about 120 R$ (about 40€) a sandwich (especially recommended pork, cheese and pineapple), chicken salad (very very huge... It's a "must go" place. Of course, the best thing to eat are the sandwiches and the draft beer, it's one of the best in Rio. Never had a bad time there.

I've been coming to Cervantes for about 6 years now and it's still one of my favorite late night restaurants in Rio. That said, I usually come to Brazil in the low season (June), but this year have come in January. And yes everywhere is packed and Cervantes, no exception. I mention the crowds maybe as an excuse because my... More

I love this place and every time I go back to Rio I go there. I love the narrow environment, the waiters, the authentic local clients and the sandwich with meat and cheese. An experience to type in the heart of copacabana.

We dropped into Cervantes for a bite to eat after a long day of travelling. We ordered some sandwiches and a beer to wash them down. I must say, it was one of the better sandwiches that I have had. The bun was nice and crusty, the filet mignon was thinly sliced and piled on the bun with a slice... More

I needed a late dinner after the football match at Maracana and I found it at Cervantes. I had a sandwich with filet mignon, cheese and pineapple, a generous portion of french fries on the side and a national brasilian brahma to drink. The sandich was more than ok, good meat and completely stuffed; I recommend this place if you... More
