Tasty and Elegant

Seeking out Thai food in Rio is not particularly easy. We walked from our hotel at Copacobana to this restaurant, and it was worth the effort. Although nobody on staff was Thai or spoke Thai, the food was tasty and the environment relaxing. A worthwhile experience.

We were 3 people for dinner on a Saturday night. No reservations, we were accommodated pretty well immediately. It was already past 10:00pm, but the place was busy. The waiter was able to speak English, the menu is very interesting and the wine list is overpriced but ok. Charming ambiance, not pretentious. We had fish, duck and chicken, all very... More

I normally read the "bad" reviews before deciding if go or not to a place and I was surprised when some people were complaining about staff not speaking english (well, learn yourself some portuguese then!) and the food not been AS IN Thailand. Well, guess what, you are not in Thailand. You are in Leblon, Rio de janeiro. Brazil. I'm... More

An upper class and pricy restaurant in the heart of Leblon in Rio that offers not just Thai but also Vietnamese, Indonesian, and general South Asian dishes. For those looking to escape from the heavy traditional Brazilian diet (beans, rice, tapioca, meat), this is a breath of fresh air. I sampled the pad thai---while it was the most expensive one... Shame we really love thai food and visited places like singapore, vietnam, etc. In the UK we frequent wagamas and other eastern restaurants. Although we didn't expect the same quaiity but most British thai places beat this hands down for half the price. We spend 221 R$ for a starter, a main each and two drinks.

This restaurant has a good variety of Thai, Indonesian and Malayan dishes. We chose among the more spicy ones (green chicken curry and red shrimp and pineapple curry), because food is generally not very spicy in Brasil. For dessert we shared a creme brulee - with flakes of coconut on the bottom. Good food, but not extra ordinary. Wouldn't mind... More

This restaurant is situated in Leblon, close to many other very good places to eat. The decor is very nice and the food very authentic, similar to what you can get in Bangkok. I understand that this is the only authentic Thai in Rio's southern area.

Nam Thai is amazing! It's by far one of the best Thai restaurants I have ever been. I recommend you start with a Muay Thai and an order of tung tong. For your entree I'd go with Curry Massaman but you will not regret if you go with Pad Thai, Nuea Pad Kanaa or Pla Nam Prik.

Excellent thai food (drinks are delicious as well!), a bit spicy for Brazilian standards but with amazing flavors. Definitely worth a dinner.
