went with a friend. it's very casual and open to the outside. Photos and posters of jobim everywhere. I loved it, except for the street musicians who played right outside the half wall looking for donations. food was very good, prices were decent.

It was my best experience in a restaurant during my trip in Rio. i suggest to eat the famous meat dish picanha....it was an incredible experience! fantastico e rinomato ristorante di Rio situato proprio vicino la spiaggia di Ipanema. consiglio di mangiare carne ed in particolare la tipica picanha!

Arrived early 8.45pm and table available immediately for three people. Friendly waiter suggested the picanha (steak) and a side salad was enough for three. Started with caipirinhas and within 15 minutes the picanha arrived pink and salty, sizzling and delicious. Accompanied by salsa, chips and a dish that looked like cous cous and a tin of Portuguese extra virgin olive... More

This is a very nice and typical place to experience "picanha" (it's all we ever order there!). It's well located, has good service and the food is delicious! It's quite popular so try to get there early or have someone go first and take a table before it fills up!

We were only a block away so why not? Another diner claimed we were at the table where the song was written, who knows? We shared the palm heart salad and chicken stroganoff with a bottle of wine and the price was under $50 US; not bad for Rio. The waiters were polite, even funny, posing with the score for... More

This place is of course popular due to the novelty... (the famous song).. There are lines to get in so get your name in early. When we were seated, I didn't realise it but it was later pointed out to me by another diner that we were sitting at the exact table where the song was composed. Service is very... More

This restaurant is not a must visit because of its food, although the piquenha (I know I'm spelling that wrong too!!) is good. It's a must visit for the ambiance and the history. And just think how cool it is you can tell your friends you ate at the restaurant where the world famous song was written!!! Find that one... More

Came here on the last night of my 2-day stay in Rio at Ipanema Inn 2 blocks away. Had ran by it in the morning and thought it looked nice and the menu had the flounder with shrimp sauce that I had in Foz do Iguazu earlier that week that I thought was so tasty. Even though the price was... More

It is an iconic place but i could not recommend it. Food is OK but nothing special compared to other restaurants. Overpriced as one would have expected but what really p-d me off was the waiter that tried to overcharge us om the bill. He persisted that he was right but finally he admitted to correct the bill, whitout any... More

Try the special of the restaurant, some beef to cook on a hot plate! A famous place in town to spend a good moment, though it is so loud that it can be quite hard to hear you neighbour!
