Never had Amazonian food before, so after seeing it starred on Lonely Planet, we went to try it out. The location is up on a hill in Santa Teresa. If you go during the day or when there is still daylight, you can sit outdoors and have a view of houses in a valley and the city way in the... More

We booked a table in advance as we knew it was popular, so we did not have to wait. The food was lovely. The Amazonian dishes are fantastic and a real excitement for your taste buds. The staff are very friendly. They have an in-house DJ on Fridays who is great. Next time I'm in Rio, I will most certainly... More

Party of 6 on a Sunday for a late (by US standards) dinner. As is customary in Brasil, the wait was long, but well worth it. The food was creative and delicious, both on the vegetarian and regular menu, and the fabulous gourd served cocktail. I am definitely looking forward to visiting again!

My girlfriend and I went for a Sunday lunch. The place was packed and everybody looked hungry and mad but since we had reservations we stayed anyway. The food took ages to come and when it finally did it was not at all worth the wait.. the vegetarian dish is just basic vegetables swimming in oil and dose not justify... More

Visited restaurant last week and atmosphere is fantastic. Everyone wearing the yellow of Brazil and a great vibe supplemented by an "in restaurant DJ" Food was real amazonian with piranha soup and various exotic fish and was both different and incredibly tasty. Only negative point was the hour wait for our starters , even though the place was half full.... More

Informal, casual with friendly service - the young guy was keen to tell me about the different Brasilian beers they stocked (Resen Wheat beer was the best) - lovely food - the fish dish peixe-no-pacotinho was superb! Nice terrace for couples out the back.

Fabulous food at a fabulous price. I first visited here 2 days ago (23 May) and luckily managed to get the last table in this very busy restaurant. I ordered a mixed seafood rice dish, and shame on me for forgetting the name, but I thought it was fantastic. I guess the best way to describe it would be a... More

We visited and got to sit on a lovely terrace out the back. The food was good. Rice with various meats, soup, shrimp and mango salad, black beans. Service was good but it was really quiet. But it was far too expensive for what it was. Food was good but not great. Rice dishes are 45 Reals

We have visited this restaurant event time we have been to Rio and have never been disappointed. The setting is tranquil especially if sitting on the small elevated terrace. Lunch appears to be a good time to visit as staff and kitchen are perhaps not quite as rushed. Tasty food to suit all tastes including vegetarian.

I went to Espirito Santa by the recommendation of a friend who had been there many times and apparently loves it. So naturally I was excited to experience her recommendation. My husband and I ordered the some fish bolinhos to start...it was so so. Nothing special at all. For my main I ordered the pork ribs with sauteed onions and... More
