Great place for a sundowner, excellent seafood in the restaurant upstairs

The place has a popular bar that serves classic barfood at excellent quality and very nice caipirinhas. The thing to do is to grab some food and drinks, and enjoy sunset with a view on the Christ. If you head 200 m down the road, past the bus stop, the view is even better and it's less crowded than... read more

We have been to many nice and fancy restaurants in Rio. We had many different cuisines. Generally we spent a lot of money for food. It is an important part of the culture for us. It is surprising that the least expensive one was the best; Bar Urca ! It is the only one that we visited twice and definitely... More

I have been to this place a couple of times. They have a restaurant upstairs and also serve pastéis downstairs. The restaurant was tasteless, but the pastel de camarão used to be very good. Unfortunately, I was told that they changed the recipe and no longer offer the tradicional pastel with a tomato based sauce, having switched to a cheese... More

Escape the tourists and drink with locals. The bar is a small place on a corner. Order a nice big beer and snack food at the window. No place to sit at the bar...the place to go is the seawall across the street. Find a spot to camp out and watch the day go by. Great people watching. Walk a... More

If you are visiting Sugar Loaf in Rio, extend you walk and stop at Bar Urca. It is a typical program for real cariocas. Have a beer and eat a shrimp "pastel". It is small and crowded, but do not worry. Cross the street, relax at the low wall and admire the view.

We didn't go inside the restaurant however sat on the path opposite. Pretty unique experience watching the bay and the sunset while ordering a few drinks and food.

We were told we should go here and try the Picanha. After reading the reviews we said we would give it a go. The rice and chips were just scattered on the plate with a burnt deep fried banana. When we were finished the beef, there looked to be at least 40% grizzle leftover. I would advise to give this... More

Amazing place to enjoy the sunset with friends (for me, it's even more beautiful than Arpoador!), drinking beers and eating "pastel" and "bolinho de bacalhau"!

This is a great spot for practicing one of the most carioca way of living: cold beer, delicious finger food, outstanding view surrounded by nice and relaxed people. Just pick your beer and your food, cross the street and sit on the sea wall until you feel absorbed by the carioqueness! If you want a proper meal, just put your... More

This is a real fun place making you believe you are part of the local in-the-know-crowd. If it was not for the hundred other people speaking every language under the sun and trying to gain a spot on the wall of the harbour. The food is basic, the beer cold and it is a romantic spot looking out at the... More
