I'm not a beer fan, but in Devassa Bar and Restaurant I can really appreciate it. Devassa is a famous bar and restaurant chain in Rio, known specially for making its own beer, which is named after different women's hair colours: blonde, red-hair, nigra, indian, "sarara"… It has an innovative cuisine that uses traditional ingredients from Brazilian regions in a... We stayed in a hotel few doors down to this place. The food here was amazing. The grill is super, I have uploading a picture of it. Have a looksie. Sausage, beef and chicken. Was amazing. The best hot chocolate cake with ice cream I have ever had. Tasting amazing. The cake just melted in my Mouth. That's what you... More

I have always liked the place. But today I ordered a PICADINHA and I found a small cockroach in the sauce. That had never hapenned in my life anywhere! The place's reply was "We are embarassed, but we cannot control that". Sorry, but I strongly recommend not to eat there.

This restaurant was the best option near my hotel, the Golden Tulip Ipanema Plaza. The beer was really good and the food was pretty good too. I ate lunch once and dinner twice. Definitely recommend it. The food is better and the prices are more reasonable than the other options nearby. Try the shrimp risotto. Very tasty.

This place, although once inside, easy to forget you're not in the U.S., is really impressive. They brew their own beer which is delicious. There was a dark stout that was so delicious and creamy. although all the food we ordered was amazing, there was a dish called a "muchacha" that was so awesome. It resembled a quesadilla filled with... More

Devassa is a great restaurant for a reasonable all you can eat buffet in Ipanema. There are a variety of hot dishes, salad bar and desserts plus an alacarte menu.It is very crowded however. One has to squeeze in between the tables and the food.

I went to this restaurant trying to get a taste of some local cuisine. I was a little disappointed with the amount of food that I was served. I order a churrasco mixto which included steak, rice and black beans. The churrasco was really small it look to me it was more a appetizer rather than a main entree. If... More

For the money, R$43, you can't have a better lunch in Ipanema on a Sunday. If you can, let me know. But typically for that price you get a not much in some dusty beach kiosk. The lunch buffet is obviously all you can eat, and has a good salad bar, read meat, chicken, etc. Match it up with a... More

Devassa was the first commercial "micro-brewery" in Rio. They expanded quicklyd and became a brand and bought up by the Schincariol beer group. The brand is now widely commercialized and the bars and reataurants naturally only serves their beer. The food is good and the beer as well, but it really depends on what day you go. Sometimes I've been... More
