The best octopus

We were three people. We shared a cherne Brazilian style, and two octopuses: one with rice with broccoli, the other a "ze do pipo", alio & olio, green pepperoni, onions. Everything was great. But the octopus was perfect: so soft, really melting in the mouth.

We got this place recommended by the staff in our hotel. We asked for some place with little tourist customers and where local would go. Fantastic recommendation! I enjoy when waiters do not speak English. These Cariocas are so nice that when it comes to communicate it is fun and charming at the time. Food? DELICIOUS Will love to be... More

This restaurant has been around for over 50 years and so are many of the patrons. A local fish restaurants which reminds me of an old upscale New York Jewish Deli. Mainly locals eat here and it open all day. I had the fresh fish of the day and my friends had the fried calamari …. they consider it the... More

The food is inspired in the portuguese food, and it as portuguese wine and treats. However it as a Carioca twist. Great staff, when you look around the place is full of local families. Do not expect a fancy place. Is clean, nice, a litle old 80's maybe, but good food with good price. It is not that easy to... More

The seafood had a good flavor and the waiters were very attentive. The restaurant is definitely old school. My only complaint I suppose is with the price. The bill for our 2 entrees, 2 glasses of juice and 1 dessert was around US $70. I don't it's bad for the area but more than I would considerable reasonable for the... More

This is a great restaurant that has become one of my favorites in Rio. I'm here on a monthly basis and always try to come here at least once. The "Polvo Espanhola" is the best I've had anywhere. The restaurant is as it was when it was first opened about 60 years ago. The waiters are great, and food excellent.... More

An old Portuguese restaurant that has kept the same décor for the last 40 years. If you are a restaurant goer by their decoration you shall most probably come back from the door. But if you enter prepare yourselves for an unique extraordinary gastronomic experience. Start with the codfish cakes and alheiras (sort of sausage) with a bottle of Portuguese... More

Every time I come to Rio, I have to reserve a day to go to A Marisqueira. A traditional Portuguese restaurant (seafood, mainly), it is a jewel. The fish is spectacular (any kind!), the service is excellent and the ovos moles are an old temptation of mine... Not to be missed.

This is a very strange restaurant. We arrived in Rio in the evening and needed to find a place for dinner. We chose A Marisqueria because it got decent reviews and it was just around the corner from our hotel. The decor looks like it hasn't been updated in 30 years, but that doesn't bother me if the food is... More

The food at Marisqueira is very home style. Tasty and plentiful. The waiters are very helpful and friendly. The owner comes to see if you need anything and ready to serve you more if you want. They go an extra step to serve you well.
