Such an experience

We visited the Colombo restaurant downtown when there in June of 2013 for the Confederations Cup. We were down to pick-up our tickets and stumbled in here. We went to this restaurant while on a day of Rio sight seeing. Located in the downtown area, it is a beautiful restaurant that serves a buffet of typical Brazilian food. Was so happy to have the chance to have a Feijoada and other typical dishes! Each one was delicious and very satisfying. Would definitly go back again and again... More

Went for coffee and cake, the ambience was beautiful, the coffee was ok but the service wasn't very good. Felt like a quite touristy place with very high turnover. Worth a visit but don't expect anything great; get a coffee and watch the people.

Now a full time restaurant downtown Rio. A Cab drive away if you are staying along the beaches. Worth the effort.

Worth it for an afternoon tea on weekdays. The place was frequented by society and intelectuais in the 19th century. The decor is art nouveau and is beautiful.

If you want to feel like living in last Century, that's one place that you might visit. All the ambiance and decoration takes you to the old times. Good breakfast, well served and "all you can eat" style. Not very expensive, but quite one.

Feels like a trip back to the 19th Century. Marvelous decoration, splendid mirrors and wood work. The food is OK, the service depends on who is your waiter, but the experience is very interesting so it definitively deserves a visit. Desserts - specially the sweets - also deserve serious attention. It's truly an unique experience. If you seat on the... More

I happen to have a tin can from the 50-60s from my grandfather from this place. It was used to pack sweets given as present to people. The place preserves the huge old mirrors, the antique furniture, and of course, the ceiling with the claivoyant beautifully decorated. Walk in and ask for any sweet made of eggs (typically portuguese). Do... More

The place is beaultiful inside (and not so good outside, strange place) and the food is good, but it is too expensive and too crowded to be great.

The desserts were very good. Loved the building. It was crowded and we were seated quickly but we had very poor service. It seemed they didn't know who was taking care of our table.
