Beautiful Restaurant with great food.

We enjoyed lunch that included cocktails. The service was excellent. The restaurant is historically significant and beautiful. I am so happy we found this place! So many choices: pastries, ice cream, sandwiches, salads, snacks and main courses. I will definitely recommend this places.

This is an amazing classic Portuguese Style Patisserie. The local is just beatiful and located right in the Center of Rio de Janeiro. The coffee tastes wonderfully, cakes are amazing and is a great peep at classic Rio, where you can feel what was life about some gooood years ago.

We just went to see the interior. Very beautiful. I would avoid ordering bottled. I did and the seal was broken... I didn't drink it and mentioned it to the waiter. I wasn't impressed. (The only place where this happened on my entire trip) I ordered a Coke and that came sealed so all was not lost LOL The view... More

Outstanding Food and Service in the most tradition bakery of Brazil, that's what you are about to experience in Confeitaria Colombo. The architeture, the moods, the furniture, the waiters, everything takes you back to early 1900. I'm not sure when they inaugurated, I think it was late 1800, so we talking about the time slaves were still around the city... More

In amongst the heat and semi-chaos of Rio's central district, Colombo is a veritable oasis of calm and old world charm. It is, in short, an ideal place to rest and recover whilst visiting the numerous attractions situated nearby. My only criticism is that they don't seem to care very much about the quality of the hot snacks...the cod balls... More

Beautiful building and very tradicional. The old decor makes you go back to the past. The old time of Rio being the capital of Brazil. The food still good, and the sweeties are a big temptation! Portuguese influence. It is an oásis in the the middle of the city Downtown.

Beautiful pastel de caipirinha to take away, a bit like a lemon tart... Flakey pastry & lovely flavour, would love to have stopped and had more!! Very posh place, the small tart I had was 12 reais which is expensive for locals, cheap for tourists, and they had plenty of other choices both sweet and savoury. You have to queue... More

It was difficult getting there in rush hour traffic, so plan accordingly. It is probably best for mid-day. It is a beautiful coffeehouse. Go for a while, take a kindle and enjoy.

A bit too popular and crowded but beautiful from an architectural perspective and significantly important as many of the monumental political decisions in the history of Rio over the past 100 years were made over coffee and dinner in this very restaurant. Yummy pastries are a bit over priced but the trendy thing to do

We had a delicious coffee and cake here. Although it was during their busy lunch hour, service was very fast and efficient and our experience was memorably good. Definitely a 'must do' while in Rio!

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Downtown Rio is the place where this city was born. With modern skyscrapers sharing space with historical buildings and landmarks, this neighbourhood is living proof that the old and the new can live together harmoniously. As you would expect, downtown is where all major companies house their offices. However, the region isn’t restricted to businesses. Gems such like the “Paço Imperial,” which is a cultural centre that used to serve as a residence for governors of Brazil, can be found here. Pedra do Sal, a Monday night street party, is also in this neighbourhood. This landmark is the birthplace of samba and is famous for its “roda de sambas” (“dance circles”). Stop in for one and get closer to discovering where Brazilian happiness comes from.
