very good but too expensive

this is a very good and gourmet restaurant with a nice atmosphere, but let me tell that 50€ for une course meal, a dessert (both gourmet size) and a caipirinha it is too expensive in my opinion.

Paraty has a host of restaurants but we were underwhelmed by them in general. This was the best of them, we had an excellent meal here, spendy but worth it compared to the others. I had a fish dish that was the first that was not just over cooked in butter with no fine touches. It was very tasty, not... More

The food was very good and the price was a little expensive but similar to other restaurants in Paraty. I had the "Prato da Boa Lembrança", a smoked fish which I highly recommend.

I believe Thursday is a tasting menu day so there was no a la carte option, which was not a problem. Even though I liked some dishes more than others, it was very interesting to try everything, especially since some dishes featured ingredients I've never even heard of before. We were recommended a bottle of Brazilian Chardonnay and it was... More

Had quite high expecations for this restaruant and that is maybe why we were a bit disapointed. Nothing wrong with food, location or service, but nothing extraordinary either. It is a safe bet when in Paraty if that is what you are looking for.

We found an innovative take on Brazilian dishes, all prepared with the freshest seafood. Subtle flavors blended with the delicate fish, and service was quite professional. Presentation was excellent. The cover charge of about $5.US brought bread and three little tastes for each (see pic) so that we would not have ordered an appetizer to share if we had known.... More

This is a good and safe bet in Paraty, where there are a lot of options and is hard to decide where to eat. Food was very tasty, friendly service. A little over-priced Unlike other Paraty's restaurants, they did not have live brazilian music, which would make the experience even better

When traveling in a foreign country I look for several things. First and foremost is an experience that I cannot find at home. An although the time spent at Banana da Terra was certainly pleasant, it was an experience I would expect from any upscale restaurant in any major city. But for what we got it was way overpriced. Ingredients... More

Banana da Terra is a superb restaurant. The service is impecable. The food exquisite. The dish designs artistic and the atmosphere casually charming. Four of us ate different dishes and we all loved it. The shrimp with black rice was terrific. Dishes are around Brl 80 per person.

Lonely Planet gave this an amazing review and rated it as one of the best in Paraty We found the food to be stodgy, the fish dry and the service very mediocre. It was also very expensive by Paraty standards.
