Good coffee, nice conversations.

Great coffee and a wonderful bakery across the road. Had a conversation with a group of folks which was stimulating and thought provoking. We appreciated the service and the flavors.

The Black Cat is a relaxing to place to come for a little bite to eat or some coffee and bakery items. The 'den' area in the back is cozy and great for reading, studying, working on your computer, etc. Unique local gifts can be browsed in the front of the cafe and various forms of artwork, usually for sale,... A nice retreat for a coffee and snack while on vacation. A friend and I stopped in for coffee and were surprised to see a genuine bistro type atmosphere. It is on a side street just off Main so keep your eyes open as you stroll or drive through Ashland's historic Main St.

My sister work across the street at ashland baking company and we met her here for some nachos and a steamer after our long car drive up to visit. It was an awesome coffee shop and the nachos were amazing. I wish we would have been able to visit more.

If you are expecting the brisk efficiency of Starbucks, you will be disappointed. As the sign says, this is not a fast-food restaurant. If you aren't in a big hurry and don't mind college coffee-shop atmosphere, you will be happy. We went twice this past weekend and got friendly service, good food, and good coffee. I ordered the breakfast burrito... More

This is a typical coffee shop housed in an old building. It is split into 2 sections and there is lots of seating. We always get lattes and they were very good here as was the service. They get most of their bakery items from "Ashland Baking" which is across the street and is GREAT!

We are on the way from Duluth to the Upper Peninsula through this town, because of my coffee addiction so temporarily see google map to find the shop. Why is it then? Because it is called black cat. I just returned from Chicago over, Intelligentisa coffee's black cat make our impression too deep (if you are a coffee fan, and... More

What a gem this was! A bit hard to find, but well worth the hunt. Food was wonderful, a bit pricey, but the pastries were well worth it! We took a breakfast treat down by Lake Superior and enjoyed the views!

I took one of my employees to the Black Cat for coffee and a roll and it was awesome. The atmosphere is outstanding and the bakery is the very best. We will be back!!!

As my hubby says, "Dynamite food -- terrible and SLOW service." We came for a late breakfast on a Sunday. Only breakfast item left was their quiche of the day. It was delicious. Ordered sides of fresh fruit, toast, and a cinnamon roll. YUM. There's no service to speak of. You order at the counter and pay and, eventually, someone... More
