I went here with some Brazilian friends for lunch. Contos de Reis is a traditional old restaurant in the middle of Ouro Preto. the building felt historic and quaint. We had a buffet lunch which was very good. I wanted a coffee Americano afterwards which is not so well known here but once we explained to the waiter he produced... More

A little bit off the beaten path from the main square but what a find! Local food and delicious. Buffet style so even when busy you get to help yourself. Well worth the visit. Enjoy!

Stopped here during a tour of Ouro Preto and it had a great selection available and all of good quality. Great atmosphere with locals and tourists. The buffet selection was extensive, including the sweets.

Of the 50+ meals we had in as many restaurants all over Minas Gerais, this was, by far, the worst. We had better food in tiny wayside diners for R$9,90 each than in this place which cost us over R$100. There were only bones and fat, and everything was horribly greasy. The lovely interior made us believe that it would... More

The place is very nice. Good decoration in a nice building. The food is typical "mineira". it is a self service, so that you can try whatever you like. The local beer is quite good. Quite expensive, though.

The food is great [regional food] and the restaurant's old building is charming. It is strongly recommended that one going to this restaurant go by taxi because the parking area is nice to get in but very dificult to drive out.

This large and welcoming restaurant above a jewelry store has won numerous awards for its regional dishes like tutu, feijão tropeiro, and frango com quiabo. The portions are generous and the restaurant often gets crowded, try to sit by the windows with a view of the street below!
