If you're tired of cheap places, and are willing to pay a little more, this is it!

After eating in cheaper and faster restaurants, we were willing to pay a little more for some comfort and better food & service. This place proved to be a nice choice: we split a meal, had a nice caipirinha and beer, and enjoyed resting before resuming walking up & down the city (and you must be... read more

We visited two great restaurants in Ouro , this being the first, situated just below one of the stunning churches with a view across the valley. The view is better in daylight although the interior is very fitting with the town and should you want to treat yourself I would recommend visiting this one. It is more expensive than other... More

We've been to this restaurant for dinner. The place is amazing, beautiful house and view, just beside Sao Francisco church. it's a great atmosphere, but food could be better. We had a local food (pumpkin with meat) and it was tasty and the portion was large, but we found it overpriced. Especially the couvert, that wasn't really good (bread was... More

Very impressed by impeccable service and great ambience. Waiter's knowledge of menu and wine list was as good as the top restaurants in São Paulo. Food was good but don't get your expectations up -menu doesn't offer anything that will wow you. We each had steak Madeira which was good. The chocolate dessert was also good and was lighter than... When in Ouro Preto, go to Bene da Flauta to taste the local "Mineira" food. Get a beautiful view, sitting by the windows to the forest and hils in the back or to the city and hills in the second floor. Try the tropeiro, tutu or torresmo, some examples of the "Comida Mineira" and enjoy the nice ambiance and friendly... More

The tables look out onto trees and this beautiful town. The service was formal and professional. We went there twice. The food was well prepared, but not very exciting. The trout with giant capers was very good, as were the beef dishes. The osso buco was both hard and fatty at the same time. But do say yes if they offer... More

This place is near the Sao Francisco de Assis church and thus near the city center. It makes a great place for lunch after seeing that side of the city. If you go, go to the top floor. You'll have a nice breeze and can see far over the city. The food for the four of us was good, although... More

A pleasant building and well-situated, Bene da Flauta sits alongside the Sao Francisco church in Ouro Preto's centre. The upper storey has a panoramic view of the surrounding baroque architecture, from modest residences to the spectacle of the Igreja de São Francisco de Assis. It's a light and airy setting. A reasonable Brazilian and international menu - French onion soup,... More

Really nice place to eat. Try and get a table on the top floor. It has great views of the city. Good international menu and attentive staff who know how to serve and stay out of the way. Fish was really good and well prepared and cooked. Interesting art on the walls made for pleasant atmosphere. Don't miss out.
