Service was great! Had the seafood muqueca! Everything was very tasty. The prices you pay here are certainly for tourists, as we probably spend in one night here and all the other restaurants on the square and vicinity. The amount a local Brazilian will make in a full month of work. :(

It is a great restaurant, a little pricey, but with amazing food and service. We had pasta and fish and both dishes were delicious!

We went for an early dinner at El Gordo on our last night in Trancoso... We were the first to arrive. At first service seemed to be okay. The woman who appeared to be the manager came to our table and was quite nice. We ordered a few drinks before ordering the food (we took our time, after all we... More

At R$98.00 this must be the best of the many Trancoso rip offs. The view is for free at the end of the square. Just don't bother

Although service was good and very attentive to our 4year old daughter, the prices are high for the quality brought to your table. My wife ordered the lobster from chef's suggestion and dish was simple (pasta and lobster), sauce was very salty and lobster was hard from being overcooked. My dish (sea bass with banana risotto) was much better but... More

Only had a drink at the restaurant, late afternoon, caipiroska at R$ 32,00. Expensive, but the view is great. Bartender was nice and offered me to change the drink if it was not good enough. I did observe the bad service as mentioned by other posts, seeing people having to wait for service with waitresses standing around having a chat..... More

We´ve had a late lunch that lasted up to night. The food is ok, nothing special. The view, however, is something to remember! Overpriced like everything else in Trancoso during high season. You pay for the ambiance.

A little overpriced in my opinion. The view of the rising moon from the restaurant is breathtaking! Service is very good.

We went for dinner and had a nice meal but not one I'll remember for a long time. Overall I found the place overpriced - and this in Trancoso where prices are generally higher than other places - and the service average. Wine list was expensive with same wines being $15-20 more than in other places.

On a very rainy day last June I tried El Gordo, the famous restaurant and hostel in Trancoso's Quadrado Square. Sorry to disappoint many TripAdvisor reviewers, but our experience was an excellent one. Due to the rain, the restaurant was not busy and we had a wonderful meal and service. They even offered us towels to dry up ourselves, since... More
