Excellent Food!!

Visited the place twice, once for lunch which was really quite an experience: awesome food, great caipirinhas and live music. The lady that was singing made it really special. This is pretty good, generic food of the city and, particularly, the historic area. If you find the menu, presentation or quality at all different from Odoya, about 100 feet away, I'd be surprised. What these restaurants do is, apparantly, prepare a basic stew sauce and add fish or shellfish (probably frozen) as ordered, heat it up and serve. It's... More

Fairly busy but all conversation drowned out by a guitar player/singer who was awful. Standard tourist trap menu and overpriced.Staff OK. Food was OK but just standard stuff, not worth the eye watering prices. There are better places to eat in this area!

Upon arriving, the staff automatically gave us an English menu. We were worried that since that meant they clearly catered to tourists that the food might not be as authentic as what I have become acustomed to in Salvador. However, we did not find that to be the case. The moqueca was absolutely incredible. It might be one of the... More

My wife and I had a very nice dinner at this restaurant. They had a guitarist playing romantic music so it was a very nice setting. The restaurant is small and cozy. The food was excellent and the service was very good. You can get similar type food less expensive but this location is located in the heart of the... More

The restaurant is situated on the middle of Pelourinho. We have had dinner here twice and the food has been well served and very well tasting. The service is fine and so is the price. It is possible to sit either in or outside. The only bad thing inside is the lighting - it is very white and not cosy... More

The meals at Mamabahia were excellent. Typical Bahia meals, prepared in great fashion. Tasty, well priced and good portions. Mama Bahia is definitely a must visit restaurant while you are in Pelourinho. Highly recommended!

This is the kind of food we came to Salvador to experience and weren't let down! Yes as some have commented the service can be slower at times, however this is Salvador, and food is meant to be enjoyed as part of an experience. Talk, drink, enjoy the live music and the atmosphere Pelourinho creates whilst waiting for some really... More

This place is in a great location, in the heart of the Pelourinho. The food is delicious...if you are vegetarian I highly recommend the vegetarian moqueca. The prices were not exorbitant. Yes, there are definite drawbacks, extremely long waits being the most obvious (but I was there during the world cup (Germany v Portugal) so I guess it's understandable...there were... More

Very good moqueca in Pelourinho (old town) of Salvador. Restaurant with nice live music. Service was not very good though, we waited for about 45 minutes for our meal. The portion could have been a bit bigger. Due to the quality of the food it still is worth it going there. Don't order anything else than fish or seafood, this... More
