Don't get me wrong... This is MY opinion... Craving for seafood the peruvian Wanchako is to die for in a city that is beautiful but still has a LOT to improve. After visiting several restaurants around the area, finding Wanchako was like finding an oasis in the middle of a desert. The ceviche and the pisco were terrific!!! I came... More

The food is OK, some dishes even very good, the setting is really classy and of high standard, but the ‎service is not that good, like others have mentioned here, you practically have to force any ‎information out of the waiters, kind of “Old School” snobbish service and above all, the prices have no ‎justification whatsoever, having said that in... The place is nice and cozy. Service is OK, not great. But what was really disappointing is that the pricey cebiche was served with canned corn!! Please, couldn't their cooks cook corn? Basic ingredient, easily available. The most expensive canned corn in Brasil.

We had high expectations once we heard so much about it. But very disappointing. Too many tables and the waitress very impolite. Once we new nothing on the menu I asked for the recommendation of the chef. He refused saying his recommendations was as good as the chef's. So we went on to tell us what to ear. It really... More

There is no shortage of fish restaurants along the northeast coast of Brazil, but most cook fish without any imagination and almost never do justice to the excellent fish variety available. The Wanchako chef used her good taste and imagination to adapt some of the best Peruvian recipes to the local fish, with mouth-watering results. I travel often to Maceio... More

I have always listen and read lots of compliments of Wanchako and I had put it on my to do list when I went to Maceio. The place is fancy, with a typical Peruvian decor but it was so crowded at this day and the service was so poor that I didn't like the food that much. When I go... More

Go and enjoy. A good surprise. Ask the special menu and be sure you will find a good peruvian fish food in maybe the most ilogical place in the south america.

We started with Ceviche and Pisco sours, both excellent but unspectacularly normal. Then I ordered a shrimps dish as a main course. When the waiter came with our orders I felt my heart sink with what I saw... on my plate were sauteed shrimps accompanied with chickpeas and pureed avocado and the mixture did not look particularly appetizing. My whole... More
