Surprise

You will be surprised by the great food they serve here. I had a steak that was unbelievable. Small but fine place.

Of the several routes to take back home from Door County, our favorite has become taking Hwy 54 through Algoma (in Kewaunee county), home of Skaliwags and "Food that's five star in a crazy dive bar". Exactly. Chef Chris and his staff serve up an amazing variety of soups, salads, appetizers and entrees, most with a Cajun twist or flair.... More

It!s a dive bar with great food and service. You must know this going in. We did and had a blast. By the way , Skaliwags is just old. It is clean as a whistle and the men's room door locks. You have to pull it closed where it catches. We struggled a bit with the menu but the younger... More

I have been to Skaliwag's about 10-15 times and have loved the food and the atmosphere. This last weekend it was horrible, the food, the atmosphere and the service for the low price of $165.00 for 4 people. I have had a bad experiences the last 3 times I have been there but always loved it and kept giving it... More

Just left the restaurant and we are already planning our next trip. We ordered the crispy shrimp and the duck rolls for appetizers. The flavors were incredible. For dinner we ordered the new York strip and the lobster ravioli, again the food was delicious and cooked perfectly. Thank you Chef Chris and thank you to the staff for making our... More

Second visit to Skaliwags. Arrived at 4:45 and walked out two hours later. Ordered grits, lobster Alfredo and lobster ravioli. Grits were great. Ravioli was good, but could have been a larger portion with more sauce. Lobster Alfredo was good, but didn't really taste like Alfredo- more like chicken base. Gripes- Beer served in a chipped mason jar, menu written... More

We stopped in at this place on a Friday evening for dinner. We had heard good things about it, particularly the food. We knew it was a (self-styled, per their menu on the wall) dive bar and it professed a five star menu. The menu, on the wall only, not printed, leans heavily toward seafood. My wife had the ahi... We waited 2 1/2 hrs for a table and another 45 mins for are food. The food was good but not worth the wait. Talked with other guests that were not happy with the poor service. They don't take reservations but if you know someone you can get quicker service ( cut ahead of others who are waiting). The atmosphere... More

I'm glad I went to this restaurant with a colleague who has been there many times before. Because if I had entered it myself, I would have immediately backed out and ran. It really looks like a cheap bar with a row of stools and several tables. However, I had one of best meals ever. I ordered a fillet which... More
