Skaliwags a place of no price. I hope they know by not posting prices on their board that the customer can refuse to pay!! $26 for a prim rib.. $28 for seafood pasta..30$ for n.y. strip(( which we got and was very fatty and cold(did order medium rare) had good taste though)(also never got a steak knife..maybe if she would... We stopped in at this place on a Friday evening for dinner. We had heard good things about it, particularly the food. We knew it was a (self-styled, per their menu on the wall) dive bar and it professed a five star menu. The menu, on the wall only, not printed, leans heavily toward seafood. My wife had the ahi... We waited 2 1/2 hrs for a table and another 45 mins for are food. The food was good but not worth the wait. Talked with other guests that were not happy with the poor service. They don't take reservations but if you know someone you can get quicker service ( cut ahead of others who are waiting). The atmosphere... More

I'm glad I went to this restaurant with a colleague who has been there many times before. Because if I had entered it myself, I would have immediately backed out and ran. It really looks like a cheap bar with a row of stools and several tables. However, I had one of best meals ever. I ordered a fillet which... More

We had an awesome experience at Skaliway's, I've recommended it to many of my friends. We went to Algoma as part of a wine tasting experience and someone at the winery suggested Skaliwag's for dinner. She said you will have to wait, but it's worth it, and it was. Delicious food and Chef Chris came out to chat with us... More

This was the most amazing meal I believe we have ever had!! It might be the smallest place ever but if you are willing to wait a bit you will not be sorry! My husband is a chef and said that this place is in the map for sure! Bartenders needed to be a little more attentive when we arrived... More

Absolutely fantastic food! Great chef! The place looks like a dive from outside but once you go in, it is cozy & friendly. Service is great. The chef came out & talked to everyone. A must go for anyone coming to Door County or Algoma.

Very small place, so you want to get there early! They open at 4:30 and you want to be there at that time because once they open the doors, the place fills up. Chef Chris explains the menu that is written on the wall ....it changes all the time...He only does this for the first seating , if you come... More

What a great surprise! Recommended by the hotel we were staying at, so we went to check out the menu for the next night. When we walked out Chris (owner and chef) came after us and told us we were walking out of the best seafood to be found. We promised we would be back the next night, and we... More

We'd been warned: the place is small & very unpretentious, it's a slow process, BUT the food is incredible. We were warned & they were absolutely right. There's four tables - yes, FOUR - in the original Skaliwag's. The night we were there, Skaliwag's 2 was not open, so we were told there'd be a 60-90 minute wait. We bellied... More
