Mind Blowing Mexican Cuisine

My husband and I lived in Texas for 3 years and have tasted Mexican food all throughout the state. When we were sightseeing in Anacortes, and tried out this small but exquisite restaurant, it blew our minds. I had ordered Frita's Fajitas and my husband had Tacos Pastor, and at the first taste, our... read more

However, my chicken was tough. For the price, I would have expected perfection. Frida's serves food with various aromatic sauces, including mole. Very nicely decorated with warm woods. In warmer weather, there is also outside seating in the front and the back. If you are looking for a quiet evening, Frida's would fit the bill.

The food here is delicious, the service not so great. But the restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the food is worth going. Best Mexican food in town!

The chiles Nogales were delicious, really well cooked and lovely flavours. My husband had the burritos chipotle - both meals were lighter than the American-ised version of Mexican - not overloaded with cheese and oil but well-spiced and thoughtfully presented. The free chips and salsas were good too! They tempted us to dessert by bringing out a plate showing the... More

The place looked cool, but the service was very slow considering we were the only table in the entire restaurant. The food was ok, but compared to other Mexican venues in town, it was sub-par. I would not go back to eat there again.

We had some time to kill before catching a ferry so we stopped here for lunch. I grew up on the border of Mexico and have learned to lower my hopes and expectations over the years when it comes to Mexican food, but this gem of a restaurant was a really happy suprise.I ordered the chicken with mole, which I... Frida's claims to have Gourmet Mexican Cuisine. We were skeptical but Man! Were we pleasantly surprised. No tourista Mexican here with cheesy, be any stuff. Fantastic quality food and marvellous service. Four of us ate till we popped and still had more as the food was sooo great. I almost didn't write this review as I wanted to keep this... More

The tequila choices were extensive but we had to drive back to Seattle afterwards so one. We shot for my husband and a delicious Chambord margarita for me was all we tried. We were very hungry after a perfect day kayaking off Lopez and the service was attentive and fast. We traded our entrees halfway through and thoroughly enjoyed the... More

If you are looking for bad North American covered in orange cheese Mexican, this is not the place for you, but, if you are looking for the best Mexican you will have north of Mexico... you are in for a treat.

I like the food here - been twice - as it is essentially an effort to serve gourmet mexican food, which is unusual. They brought the wrong order the first time. What the hey - it was New Years. Second time, months later, when we sat down the waiter, an older guy with a moustache, was not friendly but not... More
