Excellent Gourmet Mexican Food!

My wife and I first ate here while visiting the town to scout it out for possible residence. We fell in love with Frida's just as we did with Anacortes. We now reside here in Anacortes and still find a love Frida's Gourmet Mexican. I personally recommend the Mole, it is really a treat. I have not... read more

the test of any restaurant is 30 minutes after you leave you ask yourself would i go back. the answer here was a clear no. the avocado stuffed with various seafoods sounded great as a starter. however, the plate was huge , the flavors so muted and overwhelmed by the melted cheese that is really was just a warm mouth... Lots of variety, not your average Mexican menu...although there are some traditional menu items. Mole is great as well as steak tacos and enchiladas suiza. The sangria is perfect..fresh flavors, not too sweet. Beautiful bar in back, check it out..a sense if pride is very apparent. Owner seems to always be there and always gracious.

This is not your average burrito bar with tacos, etc. This is high end Mexican food with different sauces and a wide variety of food. Kind of on the spendy side, but not too bad.

My husband and I lived in Texas for 3 years and have tasted Mexican food all throughout the state. When we were sightseeing in Anacortes, and tried out this small but exquisite restaurant, it blew our minds. I had ordered Frita's Fajitas and my husband had Tacos Pastor, and at the first taste, our eyes popped open followed by harmonic... More

However, my chicken was tough. For the price, I would have expected perfection. Frida's serves food with various aromatic sauces, including mole. Very nicely decorated with warm woods. In warmer weather, there is also outside seating in the front and the back. If you are looking for a quiet evening, Frida's would fit the bill.

The food here is delicious, the service not so great. But the restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the food is worth going. Best Mexican food in town!

The chiles Nogales were delicious, really well cooked and lovely flavours. My husband had the burritos chipotle - both meals were lighter than the American-ised version of Mexican - not overloaded with cheese and oil but well-spiced and thoughtfully presented. The free chips and salsas were good too! They tempted us to dessert by bringing out a plate showing the... More

The place looked cool, but the service was very slow considering we were the only table in the entire restaurant. The food was ok, but compared to other Mexican venues in town, it was sub-par. I would not go back to eat there again.

We had some time to kill before catching a ferry so we stopped here for lunch. I grew up on the border of Mexico and have learned to lower my hopes and expectations over the years when it comes to Mexican food, but this gem of a restaurant was a really happy suprise.I ordered the chicken with mole, which I...
