The tequila choices were extensive but we had to drive back to Seattle afterwards so one. We shot for my husband and a delicious Chambord margarita for me was all we tried. We were very hungry after a perfect day kayaking off Lopez and the service was attentive and fast. We traded our entrees halfway through and thoroughly enjoyed the... More

If you are looking for bad North American covered in orange cheese Mexican, this is not the place for you, but, if you are looking for the best Mexican you will have north of Mexico... you are in for a treat.

I like the food here - been twice - as it is essentially an effort to serve gourmet mexican food, which is unusual. They brought the wrong order the first time. What the hey - it was New Years. Second time, months later, when we sat down the waiter, an older guy with a moustache, was not friendly but not... More

Food wise, our fare was good-very good. My husband had the pork dish in tamarind sauce and the pork was dry and overcooked. I had fajitas, which were very good. The sides (rice, beans, etc) were very good. Based on the food alone, I'd give this a second try. However, the service was awful. Upon arrival, we were told there... More

We stopped in at Frida's after other plans fell through. I was a bit surprised when: a) we had to wait for a table on Sunday night, b) they were out of San Pellegrino, and c) they were out of my order. Overall though, the food was quite good and the wait staff was friendly. I saw a comment online... More

We were lured to Frida's by the great reviews we had seen on Trip Advisor. I tend to think of myself as a bit of a Mexican Food snob, but we were encouraged to come in. The menu is so unique. Of course, they offer the usual enchiladas, tacos, fajitas, etc. But, don't waste the opportunity on one of the... More

We are so glad we decided to eat here. The service was fantastic..they have beautiful outdoor back patio seating. We live in Portland and this restaurant would compete with the best of them in Portland's foodie scene. The food-- nothing we had was bad .....the stuffed chicken was delicious, the appetizer of taquitos in a mortar with guacamole ( someone... More

As a local, I am amazed at the relative ratings of restaurants. Other, more highly rated, restaurants are simply not in the same league with Frida's. There is simply no comparison to the quality of food at Frida's with anywhere else in Anacortes, regardless of genre. Contrary to other comments, it is not expensive. Relatively speaking, it might be a... More

We came upon this cafe accidentally, and were so very glad we did. Delicious food, charming ambience, attentive service, and very reasonable prices. To top it off, we enjoyed a chocolate mousse cake that spoiled us forever.

I am no fan of the North American version of "Mexican" food and have learned that authentic Mexican food is a far cry from that generally messy and unappetizing concoction. My litmus test for authenticity when I walk into an unknown Mexican restaurant is if it offers any dishes that feature mole poblano sauce - the unique, rich sauce made... More
