Located in the heart of Ashland, VA and right next to the railroad tracks which course thru the center of the city this charming restaurant is aptly named. The food was imaginative and very well prepared and the service was excellent. My hanger steak entree was outstanding and tender--well flavored from a delicious marinade. The crab and salmon cakes were... More

We've often wanted to eat at the Iron Horse which has a great location a few feet away from the train tracks in Ashland. On a warm Saturday afternoon we attempted to have lunch and got a nice table overlooking the tracks outside. So much fun to see the (3) trains which went by. However, the food was unbelievably bad.... More

Everything was nearly perfect, except the portion of food was a little small. Service was OK. Loved watching the trains go by.

I visit the Iron Horse annually when I stay overnight in Ashland. It is the best in town. I was very pleased with my meal- lobster bisque and veal short ribs. My complaint is that the ribs were not hot. There were 3 of them. The top one was hot but when I got to the other two they were... More

Inventive menu focused on locally sourced food. Flavored stand apart. Small well selected wine list. Knowledgeable wait staff. If you are stopping in the area skip the chains and have a lovely meal here.

We took my cousins who came from out-of-town to the Iron Horse for dinner last week and were disappointed in the quality of the food. My cousin was pleased with her fried oysters, but those of us who got the special (short ribs) found the beef to be fatty although very tender. The creamed spinach contained an herb that didn't... Found this restaurant just by driving by after a golf tournament. Known by the locals as the "Center of the Universe" bar. Had a good selection of local craft beers and one of the best black bean quesadillas we have ever had. The restaurant was very city like and fairly large. The bar has live entertainment in the big glass... More

This is a great place to catch up with your friends and relax. Right on the train tracks, you're sure to see one go by. The staff is always friendly, the food is always fantastic, and they change their menu with the seasons so there's always something new to try.
