Nice but average visit for a casual lunch

Stopped by the IRONHORSE for a quick lunch while visiting Randolph Macon College (note: not my first visit) and it was Okay....It might be Downtown Ashland's finest - but that's only because it's a "One Horse Town" - and could do better with some "fine tuning". 1) Service was mediocre: While... read more

Love the food, love the presentation of the meals! Been there for Sunday brunch, Sunday fixed price dinner, for baby showers, and for regular dinners. The meals are always outstanding! I highly recommend the Iron Horse, always a meal to remember!

Good food and atmosphere. Good service. Full service bar with some local craft beers on tap. Great steaks and seasonal dishes. Two menus - bar and main dining - priced accordingly.

My husband and I just left this restaurant after waiting an hour and a half for service! The table was dirty and never wiped. To say the waiter was a nice guy but a horrible waiter is an understatement! We had to flag him down to ask for bread and silverware. We can't even put into words our disappointment with... More

As a local we love this place and hang out there with many other locals. Recently a friend of the owners has started bar tending there and we all can't stand him!!! He can't make a drink and has terrible service!!! It takes forever to get his attention even if the bar is mostly empty!!! All the locals have started... More

we left hungry. Drove there specifically for Sunday brunch due to recommendation of a friend. Brunch menu VERY skimpy. Portions small. No side dishes shown whatsoever. Physicality and ambiance is nice but it DEFINITELY was NOT worth driving 20 miles for.

This is in a cute location with several local shops around. The train also flies through across the street, which is fun. The food is okay, nothing special, and a little bit overpriced. But the service was excellent and the wait staff was very friendly.

I have been going to this restaurant for about 24 years. There are 2 sections. If you prefer fine dining in quiet make a reservation. The other side is where the bar is, usually the same menu, but with more of an upbeat atmosphere, and on weekends bands. The food is always excellent. They have a seasonal menu. So for... More

One of my favorite local restaurants, the food is always good and the service is exceptional. They also have a good wine list and always have good deserts. Ask for a table in the front so you can see the trains roll by only about 50 feet or so away.

Beautiful bar area and friendly staff. I had a light dinner here twice while on a business trip. The mussels in wine sauce are great. Live music one evening was a nice treat.
