This is a great place to catch up with your friends and relax. Right on the train tracks, you're sure to see one go by. The staff is always friendly, the food is always fantastic, and they change their menu with the seasons so there's always something new to try.

Three of us. Wife, friend, me. Wife & Friend had the daily special of deep fried shrimp & crab balls. I had the Chicken Quesadilla (sp). Companions said good, not great but good, The quesadillas were so sweet that I could only eat but a couple of pieces. Cost for 3, no drinks, no appetizer or dessert - $40.00 Not... More

Would not eat here if it was the only restaurant opened in town. Granted the day we decided to eat at the Iron Horse was busy but the staff(hostess) was rude and suggested we should have known to make a reservation.

My husband made dinner reservations for Valentine's Day. When we arrived many tables were open but we were seated in the middle table of a line of 3 tables which were very close together. My husband sat on a church pew and I was in a chair across from him. Before our food came another couple was seated next to... More

New to the Ashland area my wife and I visited The Iron Horse while walking around town. You cannot not miss it when you come into town and cross the tracks. And, you do not want to miss it because it is really really good. We have now been there again and was equally impressed. Food was good and fresh... More

Have eaten here 4 times in three years. Frequent traveler on I-95. Always stay at the Hampton, and most times eat here. Really up and down, both food and service. Some nights the staff is wonderful young people focused on their job. Other times hanging around the bar or outside? Have had some quality meals on occasions, sometimes poor, cold... More

If you live in Ashland Virginia you know that your choices for dining are extremely limited. Iron Horse is a great locals place in the summer to sit and dine on the railroad tracks. The manager is super friendly and the wait staff is attentive. I actually cancelled a reservation at The Jefferson to give Iron Horse a try on... More

The Iron Horse found its name from having a location beside the railroad tracks. Who would have thought that a location just a short distance from railroad tracks could support a luxury dining experience? It does, the trains seem like part of the entertainment or blend into the background. The ambiance of the open old brick oven kitchen and cozy... More
