Plenty of Novel Choices

Jaleo is attractive because you don't have to go "all-in" with one entrée. I dined in a group of five fairly adventurous souls. Most everything on the menu was novel - not the sort of items you see many places. We ordered lots of these offerings and passed them around for all to share... read more

The food is always great, nice vibe for a suburban spot. The Bethesda location is popular but Crystal city wins on service and food. The crowd at Jaleo happy hour is truly " happy " .

Our third time here in two years...and we thoroughly enjoy this place. Innovative cuisine, great tapas concept, generous cocktail and wine pours, great service, and a wonderful vibe. We're going back tomorrow night, to close out our business trip in Arlington. Next time in town...we'll be going back to Jaleo, for sure.

Every dish we tried was absolutely delicious. But tapas is small and the price is high. Seven or eight dishes each to fill up for 7 or 8 bucks adds up quickly. And this was for lunch! Great place if you don't mind the outlay.

Recent dinner here while staying local prior to flying out of National airport. Prompt service by knowledgeable wait staff who were very willing to explain the menu for the novice tapas eater. Duck confit was excellent as was the squid with rice and black ink sauce. Endive salad with goat cheese and oranges was excellent as usual. Thoroughly enjoyable evening... More

went there for the first time with a colleague, primarily because it was near to my hotel and he recommended it - good choice! can be a dress-up place but we went casual and were not out of place. Nice ambiance, good tapas AND a lot of unique choices. If you're in Crystal City and want good food & atmosphere,... More

I go here often when I'm in DC for business which is frequent. I made a Open Table reservation and was sited quickly upon arrival. I had the Sesame Tuna and Roasted Cauliflower tapas - both came quickly and were outstanding. A nice glass of Spanish wine and it was beautiful. What topped off this visit was that now you... More

Jaleo's Crystal City is one of the Jose Andre ThinkFood Group of Restaurants, which includes Oyamel and Zaytinya (other excellent Tapa/Mezze type restaurants which I have also reviewed). In addition to "small plates," there also are several large plates, including paellas. For the four of us, we got two of the Pre Theater menus which have several options for first... More

Stopped by on a business trip recently with a few colleagues. We shared a couple tapas. Servings sixe is pretty typical but the flavors are amazing. Service was terrific. Place was packed and a bit on the noisy side especially for a Tuesday. I would go again.

Jaleo is the go-to place in Crystal City for good food and atmosphere. The choices are endless so choose wisely. You can order quite a bit and still be hungry or be filled by just a couple of choices. If you read carefully the menu gives all the information you need. For example the potato dishes and omelets make a... More
