Pleasant, solid sushi restaurant near Rosslyn Metro.

Located on the ground floor of a large office building in the heart of Rosslyn, Kanpai is a simple, decent alternative for people working or staying nearby. Our sashimi, soup and salad were fine, but the ton katsu was soggy and cooked a bit too long.

I give all restaurants the benifit of the doubt but with only 3 tables full at 8:42 pm it took forever to get food. For what you get they ate way over priced. I'm not coming back here. Had better sushi in Arkansas. Salad and soup was good. tempura was not spiced. The teriyaki according to my husband and daughter... More

Quick, good, average prices and very friendly employees. Had sushi boat. Great ginger dressing. Recommend. Not too busy on a Saturday night.

This restaurant is small, bright and unassuming. Most importantly, though, it has the freshest, highest quality sushi in the whole are. The staff are long-term, committed, serious, and clearly expert at making sushi. No trainees here. All focused at the front, where all is visible. Extremely clean. Fabulous neighborhood restaurant that deserves a trip to enjoy the sushi. Quiet, good... More

Went there for lunch at 11:30, we were the second set of customers at the restaurant. There were only five of us in the group, we each ordered something from the lunch menu, the food was average and the wait to get the food was ridiculous, we wasted an hour our time from the time we walked in to the... Not worth a long review. Kanpai has decreased in quality and value. The sushi is not as good and the salads are not fresh. The fish is also very sub-par and tasteless. The lunch bowls might still be okay. I will no longer go here. It is clean and the service was fine, but it’s just not worth it anymore.

We visited this restaurant for dinner early on a Friday evening. I imagine it gets busier later but there were not too many folks in there at that time. I had Tempura which came with a salad and a soup. My daughter had some sushi which also came with the soup and salad. We also enjoyed their plum wine. The... More

arrived late at night, whole family with 3 kids. Needed food. No real experience of japanese food in a restaurant. Went here and the staff were just so welcoming. We were keen to try and learn. They spent time going through the menu and explained what was what. We made our choices and didn't have to said long for the... More

Our family stopped in here during our trip to Washington. It is tucked away off of the street. We almost walked right by it. The staff is super attentive. The atmosphere is nice. For the price we loved our maki roll dinner. My husband ordered the beef dinner and the taste was great. The only suggestion I could make is... More

This restaurant is okay, but nothing to write home about. One roll purported to have crab, but clearly used crawfish. The chef tried to play it off, but as a former Gulf Coast resident, I know mud bugs.
