Highly recommended. Go. You won’t regret it. Well, this is an easy review to report. I give out 5-star ratings when merited to places across the world. And as we know, all 5-star ratings are not “equal”. The rating is relative to the place (e.g. city and country), type of food, and price/performance (price & quality) relative to the locale.... Ten years ago I retired from my job in Washington D.C. My wife and I had visited Rio Grande Cafe many times over the years and always found it to be a congenial, friendly restaurant with excellent food and great service. We haven't been there since, until yesterday. A friend came in to Wash.DC on business and asked us to... More

Food was really only three and a half stars. Guacamole came on a plate with shredded cheese next to if and it mixed which was not great. Food was fine but nothing special. Chips great and the guava margarita was outstanding. I would go back there just for that!

We ate here once during our stay in Washington. The food was good but a little expensive. We had the beef/chicken fajita plate for one because we knew if would be enough for the both of us and it was! They serve you chips & salsa when you sit down. They also make you guacamole at your table if you... More

Great food, excellent service. Went with wife and kids. Everyone had tacos and loved them. Excellent guacamole too. Told the waitress we were in a hurry, and she really came through.

We arrived very hungry and left very full! We ordered the chicken and beef enchiladas. They were full of meat and the rice and beans were the best we have ever had. We were to full to order desert. Definitely a place to go out of the way for.

My husband and I make Rio our Friday date night tradition. The queso dip is delicious, but the nachos with steak will make you happy. They are served with fresh jalapeño. We share the steak fajitas. The fajitas are made fresh in the store and are excellent.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. The chips and salsa are superb! The steak fajitas for one can easily feed two and are out of this world.

Excellent food & service. I recommend this restaurant for casual or professional gatherings. It's a block away from the metro so it is easily accessible. A must!

Family outings to Uncle Julio's Rio Grande are always fun. Great, standard Mexican fare, good drinks, nice beer selection. It can get a little noisy, but it is perfect for large groups who want to enjoy good food and good times. Tip for families with children: ask for a ball of tortilla dough for added fun!
