Disappointed

Reunited with a childhood friend (now my boyfriend ) we were walking on the street looking to find a goldmine of a restaurant. 23 street had so many options, but this restaurant caught our eye. It seem small, cozy and with a day before Valentine Day, it was not crowed. This is were the good story... read more

This is an adorable little place and I was hoping it would be good food but not at all. I went with my husband and 2 kids and we all got different dishes. I asked for the signature dish, ossobucco and they were out so the waiter recommended a steak dish instead. It was as tough as a shoe and... More

Probably the closest to Italian I have since visiting Italy. The chicken carbonara was amazing as well was the service. Waiter Javier was very courteous. Being a short walk from most of the hotels in the area it is an easy trip. Don't be mistaken by turning left on 23rd of of Eads street. Turn right and jump in you... More

I had high hopes for Café Italia. Within walking distance of our apartment and recommended by friends, it held promise of being "our place", that little hole in the wall with great food that we come back to for all of our Saturday night dine outs. But our Valentine's Day experience put it into the average category despite decent food.... More

Our group wandered around restaurant row in Crystal City, reading menus and talking about what each of us would like for dinner. We settled on Cafe Italia for the look and the menu and asked to eat on the 'porch' so that we would have a breeze and a view of the sidewalk traffic. My husband and I split the... More

Atmosphere feels like an old European cafe. Dsusy, dirty and messy with lots of nostalgic appointments. Service was friendly and helpful. Tomato sauce could have been Ragu. Seafood was unimpressive. I do not recommend.

Visited here with a group of friends while attending a meeting in Crystal City. The owner and staff are very welcoming, and the food is remarkably good. One small issue: a couple members of our party had an evening meeting to attend, but the food preparation time meant we had to deliver the meals to them back at the meeting... More

Started with drinks, those were good. Had chicken Parmesan and FBI both were outstanding. If you come to the area do you a favor, stop here.

For a few years now, Café Italia has been an Arlington destination. Although we live halfway across the country, we feel part of the "neighborhood." There is something special about its combination of atmosphere, service, good food, and genuine friendliness. We love the sincerity and lack of pretense. I think this was our fourth or fifth visit, and it was... More

My Dad and I had walked past this restaurant several times over the years while on either business or vacation without stopping. It is clean, but does not make much of an impression from the street. Big mistake! When we recently went to Washington DC on vacation, our hotel shuttle driver highly recommended Café Italia. We made a point of... More
