Pleasant, homey find in Arlington

One of our party was late, but the matron seated us at the table and let us wait. That was a nice start to what turned out to be a very good meal. The menu is relatively small, and focused on seafood and French preparation, but I think everyone could find something. There were a fair number of... read more

Have been eating at the small and elegant La Cote D'Or for many years now. We have always been delighted every time! We enjoy going with close friends so we can all enjoy the wonderful food, great wines and friendly & knowledgeable service from staff who've been at the restaurant for many years now. Though parking is always 'tight', don't... More

Had been there years ago when they served true French quality food. However the recent visit was disappointing. I had the special soft shell crabs provincial but they were small and soggy. My wife had the minute steak that was just do so. The French fries were under cooked. The best items were the complimentary cream of corn soup and... More

Once you step inside this oasis in a busy part of Arlington, you'll discover a charming French Bistro. La Cote D'or stands head-and-shoulders above any other restaurant in the area. The menu is exquisite, creative and constantly changing. The quality of each appetizer, entree and dessert is always superb. There's a full bar and an extensive wine list. The service... More

We've been going to LaCote since 1993 when we celebrated closing on our home there and then other special occasions such as our 25th wedding anniversary. We hope his widow Lynne and the wonderful staff will keep La Cote going. We're always considered it the next best thing to a trip to France.

I have driven by this restaurant since moving to the area six months ago. I always see people streaming into the place and heads at every window. I love French food, but just haven't found the time to pop in, not living in Falls Church. Well - yesterday I was out on a plant-buying mission to Merrifield Gardens and I... More

Don't be out off that this place looks old fashioned for old people... It is excellent ... Careful service, well prepared French menu. Able to linger over your meal with no pressure to leave. A treat.

Good escargot and onion soup, Mussels were confusing - some plump and delicious, some shriveled and chewy - all too salty. The one item that I would have missed out on if it had not been for our server's suggestion was the Tarte Tatin - not a simple apple upside down tarte but a magical puff with sliced apples. Mmmmmmmmmmmm

We visited on a cold snowy Valentine's evening. The owners greeted us personally and mad sure that we were comfortable at a lovely table. The cocktails were served promptly and were generous pours. The service was friendly and personalized even on a busy night like Valentines. The food was excellent. I had a filet of sole that the owner guaranteed.... More
