The taste of Ethiopia

While working in the Crystal City area from Sept. 2015 - Jan. 2016, several colleagues decided to take me out for dinner & told me to choose. I got on line & searched restaurants in the area... I wanted to try something different to the other meals several of us had experienced in the area!! So I... read more

This is a must when in the area. Never had Ethiopian food? No problem, just dive in. They have the right heat for any palate. We had a party of 8 and got 7 different fishes. No one was disappointed. Even the St George's beer was good. Try several things. The favorite was the Zingy beef and chicken, but the... More

The food is very flavorful with the right level of spice. We ordered the meat combo and the veggie combo, and were not disappointed with anything. The appetizers are really small though. The hostess even accommodated a special request for fresh tomato, onion, lemon, enjera mix :)

Very flavorful. The hostess was very accommodating. The food is out of this world. Come hungry, be happy. Clearly one of the best places in this area

If you've never tried Ethiopian food, this is a great place for a first-timer. I've had Ethiopian food before in restaurants and in friend's homes. This is very close to other things I've tried. Also, the cost isn't too bad for those DC area.

This was the first time I tried Ethiopia food. I like it. However, maybe it was not a good choice for me to eat this before my marathon the next day. If you are not running marathon next day, please try them, you will be surprised.

We showed up without a reservation on a Saturday night, which was a mistake. But we were seated after about 35 minutes. This is a popular spot. The food was delicious. We had the Meat Lovers plate with a side of collards. Plenty of food, and lots of homemade injera, a fermented, gluten-free bread that ones uses to scoop up... More

This restaurant was located within 5 minutes' walking distance of our hotel. Thankfully, it was still open when some neighbouring restaurants had also already closed or weren't taking any new customers on that particular weekend evening. It turned out to be a cosy restaurant spread over two floors. It was also our first experience of Ethiopian cuisine, and taking our... More

This is a great Eritrean restaurant! The root of my enjoyment, though, is the excellent injera, which is the first I've enjoyed out of several attempts at eating it over the years -- little of the sourness is present, but it's not overwhelming like at other places I've been to. Beyond that, the food has great flavor. I tried lots... More
