Nice food and Genial hosts

I was experimenting with Ethiopian food for the first time, the hostess was very helpful in helping us select our food. Excellent quality of food (We had chicken and vegetarian). The vegetarian option was also good for those for whom non-vegetarian is not an option. Overall a nice experience.

Thought we'd try this place after reading reviews. Nice aosphere & good service. But....the quality of the meat was very poor. The decibed prime beef & lamb. Grisly and tough on all 3 entrees ordered. Good combo of spices and other sides, but the cheap meat ruined the meal. Prob will not return-too many other better Ethiopian restaurants with better... Met up with former Peace Corps friends for a nice dinner. One of our party lives in Hawaii and there are apparently few if any on Oahu. In any case, we ordered the combo plate (meat and veggies) and ate at one of the basket tables. For those who have not eaten Ethiopian, the food is served on injera bread... More

I'm very fond of kitfo -- the steak tartar of ethiopian cuisine -- and this place makes an excellent kitfo. It's a casual restaurant across the street from another ethiopian place in the ethnic strip across the jeff davis hwy from the many hotels of crystal city. This place is very friendly and also has a lunch buffet which i... More

Our party of three had a great meal here and were able to catch up with good conversation during dinner. At first glance it doesn't appear as much as it is a pretty simple and small restaurant. The menu had so many options it was hard to pick so we chose one of the combos that had more food than... More

While staying at an area hotel, I decided to try my 1st stab at Ethiopian cuisine. I took the server’s recommendation for a dish – spicy lamb, potatoes & tomatoes served in bread with more bread on the side. I ate sans utensils in Ethiopian fashion. It was very tasty with just the right amount of heat. Server was slowish... More

Great food with an full menu of options. The vegetarian combo gave me 8 or so delicious dishes to sample with plenty of injera. I ate until I couldn't and still walked away with what felt like a full take away order. Definitely worth a return with friends for a traditional Ethiopian dining experience.

What a find! I walked in to Harar in the late afternoon not expecting much as the exterior is quite bland. The interior though basic, is warm and comfortable. It was quite empty (only two tables of diners), but it was only 4:30 in the afternoon. being that i was solo, i sat at the bar. I ordered the vegetarian... More

We came here for a family dinner before a show. My kids (teenagers who like ethnic and spicy food) wondered why we had never taken them out for Ethiopian food before. I wondered that, too. We had a very tasty meal of the combination meat and veggie platters, plus a couple of lamb dishes. The service was good, and we... More
