I love Mala Tang and every time I go home to visit my family we try and go for hot pot! After living in NYC for 15 years and having some of the best hot pot in Queens, Mala Tang is just as yummy. The only difference that you have individual hot pots as opposed to a large hot pot... More

Just moved to the area and am having a great time trying all the new places! There are so many Asian restaurants, each with their own specialty. Mala Tang is hot pots! Pots of hot boiling broth on your table and you cook your veggies and protein in the broth( Asian fondue!). Love the sUce bar, where you can mix... More

This restaurant is among the best in the DC area. It should have been among the top 100 of the Washingtonian review. I have come here three times and each time was highly satisfied. Last time, I saw a tasty looking dish on someone else's table and upon inquiry learned it was the "dry pot." You pick your protein, veggies... More

First and foremost - ask for Jim to be your server and you will have an incredible dinner and a fantastic experience. OK if you have not done a Hot Pot --- it is fondue Chinese style. You decide if you want to cook in spicy (VERY MILD) or Mild broth - everyone gets their own...do the spicy (Mala). Order... More

I have visited this restaurant on many occasions due to its proximity to my Arlington Office. The staff and service is always good and consistent, although, they do, sometimes forget you are sitting there. If you are into Asian inspired cuisine and hot pots, they do offer some of the best in the area.

Every time I go to DC I stop by this place. Never too busy and the food is always good. I like to make and mix my own sauces. I would say I had better hot pot in LA but I don't live there anymore. So this is as good as it gets!

Szechuan Hot Pot can be difficult to find -- and no, I'm not talking about the stuff you get at Tony Cheng's. But DC has a pretty good place for a really good hot pot in Arlington. Mala Tang uses the traditional Szechuan method and good ingredients. They use individual pots, not the old-style common pot (which I kinda like).... More

Dim sum is some of my favorite foods but I have never tried hot pot. It was fun to cook your own food and to make your own sauces and made for a slower enjoyable meal.

We won't go back. For our party of 7: three hot pot "entrees" came out first but the 4 dry pot entrees (prepared by the kitchen for you) dribbled out of the kitchen several (5+) minutes apart causing most of us to wait hungrily for dinner. When the dry pot food did arrive in its own mini chafing dish with... More

If you like real Chinese Sichuan food, this is a reasonable place. We tried FuQiFeiPian and HuiGuoRou, not the best , but both are fine.
