This restaurant has closed. When open we enjoyed it. There is a sign posted on the door that says to follow them on the web so maybe they are planning on reopening at a new location.

Although my first review of Cafe Assorti was rather positive, I felt the need to compose a new review based on more recent visits. The sad thing is, this place has become very bland. While it was previously one of the few choices for Russian and Central Asian cuisine, this is not longer the case and there are better options.... More

I have eaten at Cafe Assorti at least eight times. It definitely has the best Russian and Central Asian food in the DC area. The first time I tried Cafe Assorti, I went for the standards: beet salad, hot borscht, and cabbage rolls. The beet salad and borscht were the best I've ever had (and I've spent time in both... More

My boyfriend and I visited Cafe Assorti while spending a weekend in DC. We had breakfast there twice and will do so again when we visit this spring. The main reason we love the it so much if for the 3 cheese pancakes. They are out of this world! The omelet was also good but did not come with any... More

Our friends and we should be good judges of Russian and Central Asian food. We met when we were all living in Kiev, and our friends have also lived in Uzbekistan. One big plus in Café Assorti’s favor is that it seems perfectly authentic, but that is also perhaps its downfall. For example, we often saw “vitamin salad” on Ukrainian... More

Brunch for six could have not been more pleasant at the Cafe Assorti. We arrived in time (12 noon) for the savory pastries that are the staple of the luncheon menu. We also enjoyed their sweet pastries, notably the cheese tarts and cherry tarts that are highlights of the breakfast menu. The endless cups of coffee made us feel right... More

Since I have lived in Ukraine, I was eager to try this place. However I found it disappointing. While the menu has good variety, the portions were on the small size. I had the golubci and it did not come with any kind of side, not even bread. Since this place is not cheap, I would suggest having dishes that... More

We had great service and a great meal at Cafe Assorti. The portion size was adequate and the food was very flavorful. We would definitely stop by and eat here again.

My group of 10-12 temporary, professional, DC residents have been to Assorti five times, and we have always had a great time. It is basically for the atmosphere and absolutely superb service. The place is large spacious and bright, so that they can set up a table for 10-12 with no problem, which itself is rare. Because of the openness... More
