Though I live less than a mile away, I first heard about this place from an NPR. Located off Columbia Pike near the Pentagon, this little bakery feels like you've been transported into a whole other continent. A staple in the Ethiopian community, this bakery/cafe/restaurant/ethnic grocery is a local hangout that goes largely unnoticed. The pastries and coffee reflect Ethiopia's... More

Don't let the terms "Bakery" or "Pastry" fool you. This tiny place has great Ethiopian food. Good selection of meat and vegetarian dishes, everything well seasoned. Some of the best Ethiopian I've eaten at reasonable prices. One of my new favorites!

This was the closest walking distance restaurant to my hotel, it had been a long time since I had Ethiopian food. The bakery serves up wonderful pastries (pick anything, you will like it) and anything can be served up from the restaurant to go. If you can not decide, try the sampler. One order was more than enough for me.... More

This is a hole in the wall that was simply amazing. You can also buy the Ethiopian bread in the attached store. I am going to try some Ethiopian dishes tonight.

Five star rating for desserts. This is a terrific hidden gem in Arlington, on Columbia Pike just down from the Air Force Memorial. The bakery is attached to the Ethiopian restaurant, but the variety and types of cakes and cookies are what you might expect from any very nice local pastry shop. We have had dessert here twice and each... More

We have driven and walked past Dama for years and I always noticed how crowded the parking lot was. Well, we finally took time to STOP and eat. Yum! We went for a late breakfast and were very happy. The service was friendly and fast and the food was delicious. The vast majority of clientele were Ethiopian - it must... More

We've dined at Dama a few times now for their vegan selection. The food is good, and the service is good. You know this place is good by the fact that it draws people from the Ethiopian community.

I had no idea about Ethiopian food but was keen to try. The woman behind the counter could not have been less helpful at explaining what the various dishes were or how they were prepared. I ended up with what were some pieces of warm bread with a side of plain yoghurt, which was the best part of the meal.... More

I heard about Dama on NPR and asked an Ethiopian co-worker who enthusiastically recommended it. A buddy and I, without much prior Ethiopian food experience, split the Awaze Tibs and the Vegetarian Combo. The waitress suggested that we cut the Tibs with tomato (likely the Gringo option) and we readily agreed. The food, eaten with the provided injera, was all... More

Wonderful pastries!! Check out their breakfast menu. You can get many different kinds of bread, all whole grain, and eggs cooked to order. Very friendly Ethiopian establishment. There is also a restaurant serving true Ethiopian dishes a couple of doors down. Each serving could feed at least two people. SPICY, but fresh and delicious!
