Local Authentic Salvadorian

We stopped in for a quick dinner the other evening. The decor isn't much to talk about the food is very good. I had the rib-eye steak with all the fixings; re-fried beans, rice, guacamole and plantains. My wife and son had the chicken fajitas. It was a generous portion and we enjoyed our meals... read more

This was my first visit to La Union, and it certainly won't be my last. Friends strongly recommended it, and I took them up on it. The first thing I noticed was the strong positive energy I was feeling. Happy families. Seniors. Couples. Friends. The restaurant was comfortably full, but we did not have to wait to be seated. I... La Union is my neighborhood Salvadoran restaurant. It is one of our family's go to restaurants. It is solid, hon cooked Salvadoran food. It's like comfort food. This is a warm welcoming family owned and run restaurant.

Went there on Saturday night. Easy to get a seat. Affordable prices. Very friendly service. Copa America (soccer) on two big screens. Nice atmosphere. Food was solid, though not amazing. Good all round experience.

As Arlingtom becomes more crowded with obnoxious chain restaurants with loud decor, mechanical service, and mediocre food, La Union is that much more special. No you will not find bros hanging on a patio with brews. Instead you will get nice service with great Salvadorsan/Mexican food. Portions are spot on and prices are reasonable. And that's why I keep coming... More

We have been going to La Union since we moved to Arlington in 2008. The food is amazing, not too expensive, and generally served quickly and with great service. Recently, prices have been going up and it can take a reservation if you have more than a few people dining together, but their carne asada is awesome!

We come here somewhat regularly, when in Northern Virginia. The food is good without being unnecessarily complicated or expensive. The staff is flexible, and willing to change things to fit what you want. I usually get a papusa and a tamal, with beans and rice, and always enjoy them. My wife likes their burritos. If you are looking for Mexican,... More

From the moment I entered the restaurant I knew I had made a mistake. The first red flag was that it was post-apocalyptic empty. The second red flag was the cheap and boring interior. I brushed off these warning signs and proceeded to dine here. The waitress was friendly, but that didn't compensate for the dull food. I have been... More

La Union is a neighborhood gem. Great Salvadoran and Mexican food at affordable prices. Go for the Salvadoarwn food for a authentic treat. Pupusas are stuffed with filling and cheese and accompanied with a tasty slaw. Try the loroco and cheese for a real treat. El tipico, fried whole fish and brochettes ((porh, beef, chicken) are the best bets. And... More

It has been a while since my wife and I went to a Salvadoran restaurant, and after the Fiesta DC Latino festival in DC this September, I decided we would seek some out. Salvadoran restaurants are not hard to find around here, because Salvadorans make up 32% of the Hispanic population in DC, Virginia, and Maryland (262,000, to be more... More
