La Union is a neighborhood gem. Great Salvadoran and Mexican food at affordable prices. Go for the Salvadoarwn food for a authentic treat. Pupusas are stuffed with filling and cheese and accompanied with a tasty slaw. Try the loroco and cheese for a real treat. El tipico, fried whole fish and brochettes ((porh, beef, chicken) are the best bets. And... More

It has been a while since my wife and I went to a Salvadoran restaurant, and after the Fiesta DC Latino festival in DC this September, I decided we would seek some out. Salvadoran restaurants are not hard to find around here, because Salvadorans make up 32% of the Hispanic population in DC, Virginia, and Maryland (262,000, to be more... More

I'd give this little Mexican/Salvadoran spot 3.5 stars. This is a hole in the wall, to be sure - warped linoleum, old tables and chairs, sticky menus. But the food was good and the price can't be beat. I wasn't a fan of the (free) chips & salsa - chips were a little stale and the salsa was a weird... More

This restaurant seems to be Mexican restaurant for my opinion. I am not sure about it. By the way, there are many menus coming with weird names for me. I really didn't know what kind of food in the menu. So, I just ordered one dish with my common sense coming from hungry. It is steamed rice and chicken burrito.... More

La Union is a comfortable homey restaurant in a mostly residential area of Arlington Co. In the 1970s I remember this used to be a High's convenience store. Nice service, the burritos, tacos, guacamole, chicken/sour cream dish, all very good. Reasonable prices. The menu is pretty big, and no loud music, yay! Family recommended this place, and the El Tipico... More

I vacationed in El Salvador many years ago. So when I started looking for a restaurant that had home cooked Salvadorean food it was a long journey until we found this delightful little restaurant very close to the Ballston area in Arlington, VA. This is a family run restaurant. The whole family is involved cooking, serving, being fine hosts. This... More

We ate at La Union on a busy Saturday night. The restaurant was packed and we grabbed the last open table. The waiter brought us the obligatory chips and salsa to start as he took our drink order. The chips and salsa were just OK. The salsa was very liquidy and hot. The chips were run of the mill. I... More

We love coming here to meet up with friends. Simple atmosphere but good food and selection. Waitstaff always friendly and welcoming. Very home-y. The soups on the weekends are interesting and delicious! My favorite dish are the sour cream chicken enchiladas!
