so many tv screens... so much noise...

First and foremost I get that this is a sports bar... you expect TVs showing sport... I didn't quite realize how many TVs you could have showing sports at once. The other thing is that each of the TVs seems to have the volume on so any conversation you were hoping to have is pretty much drowned... read more

we've been here many times, at different times of day and different days of the week. the food is surprisingly good - it's not just bar food. the steak salad, German-Deli style entrees, Reuben sandwich, soups, beer selection all consistently good. sometimes the wings are great, and sometimes they're not. the service is friendly, but uneven. sometimes it's so slow... Casual, sports on many TVs, a little too noisy, but we keep going back. Good choice of beers on tap, excellent choice of burgers, friendly service. A small but interesting menu - the moules frites are great. This is a place to go with friends - not for serious talking and not for a romantic evening.

Very good Irish Bar. The food and drinks are very good but most important the Service is excellent. Parking is very easy if not very busy they allow you to pick your own table. Just very nice people.

One thing I like about Thirsty Bernie is that they are one of the only restaurants in Arlington that serve Shirley Temples. Sadly, that is one of the few pros of this place. The other pro is the abundance of large, flat-screen TVs, great for watching your favorite sports teams in action. Sadly, this is where the pros end and... More

We dropped in with our family late on Saturday night if Memorial Day Weekend and were surprised at the lite crowd. My wife and I split a Heart of Palm salad and the Moules Frites. Both were outstanding and the frites were as good as we have had in Paris (France)! My son had the Reuben, which he has always... More

It’s a loud sports bar and is smaller inside than it appears from the outside. Patrons are all ages including babies and young children. A number of large flat screen TVs line the walls and are tuned in to different sports, giving many the chance to view an event of interest. In addition to typical sports bar fare—which they do... The service was both slow and forgetful. Necessities like silverware were left off the order, and the wait staff never asked if everything was OK. Food was fine, but overpriced for what it was.

I've been to Thirsty Bernie (at the corner of Glebe Rd. and Lee Hwy. in Arlington) several times in the past couple years. I usually eat there with my boyfriend but have also gone with other friends and family. The restaurant is clean and cozy (a little dim, but that's not so bad) with a bar along one wall and... More

Perhaps it's because I tried to avoid the typical bar fare, but based on initially visiting Thirsty Bernie Wednesday, August 7, 2013, I'd not again attempt to eat there. The place in my experience seems better suited to drinking beer while watching sports on numerous television monitors. Seating myself at the bar on a weekday during happy hour (5:00-7:00 p.m.),...
