One thing I like about Thirsty Bernie is that they are one of the only restaurants in Arlington that serve Shirley Temples. Sadly, that is one of the few pros of this place. The other pro is the abundance of large, flat-screen TVs, great for watching your favorite sports teams in action. Sadly, this is where the pros end and... More

We dropped in with our family late on Saturday night if Memorial Day Weekend and were surprised at the lite crowd. My wife and I split a Heart of Palm salad and the Moules Frites. Both were outstanding and the frites were as good as we have had in Paris (France)! My son had the Reuben, which he has always... More

Thirsty Bernie is a disappointment. A prime location in north Arlington and plenty of parking. Yes, they service beer and other alcohol drinks which we don't indulge in. And, they have more than a dozen flatscreen TVs. But, the food is a different matter. It's fairly bad. The three of us - there for the first (and last) time -... More

It’s a loud sports bar and is smaller inside than it appears from the outside. Patrons are all ages including babies and young children. A number of large flat screen TVs line the walls and are tuned in to different sports, giving many the chance to view an event of interest. In addition to typical sports bar fare—which they do... The service was both slow and forgetful. Necessities like silverware were left off the order, and the wait staff never asked if everything was OK. Food was fine, but overpriced for what it was.

I've been to Thirsty Bernie (at the corner of Glebe Rd. and Lee Hwy. in Arlington) several times in the past couple years. I usually eat there with my boyfriend but have also gone with other friends and family. The restaurant is clean and cozy (a little dim, but that's not so bad) with a bar along one wall and... More

Perhaps it's because I tried to avoid the typical bar fare, but based on initially visiting Thirsty Bernie Wednesday, August 7, 2013, I'd not again attempt to eat there. The place in my experience seems better suited to drinking beer while watching sports on numerous television monitors. Seating myself at the bar on a weekday during happy hour (5:00-7:00 p.m.),... Thirsty Bernie is a good place to go for burgers, beer, and brunch. Nice service, good food, plenty of TVs tuned to various games.

I used to love this place when it first opened and was highly praised by the Wasington Post. The Post cited the beef sandwich (Beef on a Wreck),the rolls which held the generous amount of beef, and the unique french fries.I liked it all and the fact that you could get a fountain drink of cherry coke. Then the changes started.First they switched... Thirsty Bernie struck me as a combination of a family restaurant and a bar. The food is quite pricy for the atmosphere. OK, but nothing special. We live in the neighborhood and ate once, but probably won't go back, given our tastes and the many alternatives nearby.
