The food here is just shy of ok. It's often overcooked, the selections are pedestrian, and the venue has changed hands, and menus, far more than its neighbors. Its only asset is its location, close to other restaurants and a few shops.

Several good wines to pick from by the glass. Our appetizers of Prosciutto & Melon and Calamari arrabiatta sauce & pesto mayonnaise were very good. The Arugula & Pear Salad poached pears, candied walnuts, pecorino cheese with lemon dressing was very good. House Gnocchi ricotta cheese gnocchi, braised beef with a porcini mushroom sauce was one of the best Gnocchi... More

Great happy hour! I think the best in Shirlington. Happy hour pizzas are awesome and they have other good options at a great value. Can't eat better for $5. I live here and usually come at least once a week. I've also been here for dinner. If you are craving Italian this is the place. We ate outside and they... More

This was our second visit to Extra Virgin. Our first visit was a culinary delight. This visit was almost as good as the first, the only exception being that the menu was prefixed for Valentine's Day. We prefer ordering a la carte, even though the chef's selections for the meal were great. We especially enjoy the fresh bread and olive... More

I frequently go to Shirlington to dine, but I'd only been to Extra Virgin once. This visit was the first time I went for Sunday brunch and I was impressed with the options on the menu. My sister was a little disappointed that the dish she wanted was no longer available but my chocolate waffle was awesome. Many of the... More

Nice lunch specials, good atmosphere and friendly service. I have only been seated outside, but the inside looks nice too.

My girlfriend and I had Saturday night dinner at Extra Virgin before seeing a movie at the local theatre. It was a pretty nice evening in October, so we decided to chance eating outside, which proved to be a good decision. For our main courses we chose a grilled salmon dish and pasta with lamb. Both were very good and... More

After having dinner at the nearby Bonsai Grill, we and another couple walked across the street and picked Extra Virgin Modern Italian Cuisine for dessert. We were overwhelmed with how wonderful our choice turned out to be. Although it was a busy Saturday night, we were given a table for 4 within three minutes and were seated right in front... More
