Lite Fare with a Bang

Just wanted a small snack. Blackened 6 oz burger with pepper jack and some tater tots. Grill Cheese with basil tomato soup was good as well. A little difficult to find main entrance. Decor needs a lift but don't let that fool you on the quality of food. Well worth it!

The restaurant can't make up its mind about being a full-service restaurant or just a walk-in, but format is irrelevant as long as gourmet burgers continue to be the pay-off. I always get a burger au poivre with spicy pepper jack, plus fries. Ketchup available, but using it never entered my mind. Burger and fries too delicious on their own!... More

I have been about ten times since this Ray's opened a few years ago and have never had a bad experience. For us, the food is always delicious and plentiful. However, the menu and format keeps changing. Some menu items I loved in the past are no longer offered. Right now they have both sit down service and counter service.... More

Not sure any other reason to come here but the burger which is indeed a good one. Turns out to be a less expensive meal than many of the other local joints.

My son suggested Ray's to the Third when I requested a super casual restaurant for a recent family dinner for a party of nine. I did request casual but I didn't realize it was so casual you order at a counter. But the food was very good and they offered a wide variety of burgers and toppings, including beef, bison... More

From our experience, the food was very overpriced and not worth it. The menu, the service, the atmosphere were all below expectations. Don't waste time here, go elsewhere.

10oz option is huge! The 6oz Hellburger was plenty for me. The burger meat is delicious and very good quality. I agree with another reviewer, order up for "doneness" - i.e. order Medium Well if you like yours Medium. Unique toppings include foi gras, bone marrow, Brie cheese. I had The Mack with bacon, it was very, very good. Fries... More

We visit every year and the food has always been good. However, they have changed their service. There is no one greeting you at the door ---you can sit at a table for half an hour and no one approaches you. Finally we realized that there is no waiter taking your order any more--- instead, you place the order at... More

We decided to try this restaurant because it was close to Arlington Cemetery. When we walked up to it we thought that it was closed because there was no one in there. Once we realized it was open, we went in and ordered our food at the counter. The menu is posted on the wall and we were unsure of... More

Rays Hell Burger used to be my favorite burger place in DC, but sadly they lost their way since becoming Rays to the Third. I don't know if it's because they were trying to compete with other burger places in the area, but their once simple and amazing menu has now become more expansive and the cost of its quality....
