We did not have a single dish that was just ok; very complete selection of wines complements the tapas and vice versa. My personal favorite pairing was a Montepulciano. Indoor seating manages to be quiet and private despite the open space.

Have visited several times, usually didn't have room for dessert, so went in just for that. Ordered the trio of creme brûlées. Wish the flavors be ordered individually. All are wonderful, but the chocolate one is beyond amazing.

80th birthday gathering, party of 18, took up most of the cozy inside space while other patrons enjoyed the larger outdoor area around lovely fountain in the inside-the-block courtyard. They're known for their scallops (with cauliflower, golden raisins, shallots, capers, and leeks--just a hint of sweetness, and lovely) and their butterfish (with trumpet mushrooms and yellow tomato confit--yum). Spouse and... More

Grand Cru doesn't get much foot traffic due to its location in a plaza between buildings, but that just means more wine for you! My girlfriend and I really enjoy coming here. She loves the huge wine selection, and they have enough of a beer selection to keep me more than happy. The food is also great (maybe a little... More

I've been there twice and both times food was quite good. Tapas or full dinners with a varied menu. You can buy a bottle of wine there and for either a $7 or $5 corkage fee drink it with your dinner. The $20 bottle in a large wine store was $25 there plus $5 fee still a good value for... More

The Grand Cru is a small restaurant with an extensive wine available to drink there or purchase. It is located in the Ballston area of Arlington, just off the Ellipse park. I have never a meal there that I did not enjoy. Service is very good, and prices are reasonable.

Service was a little slow here, but the food was delicious! The happy hour is really good for the area- $5 appetizers and $3.50 wines. My only disappointment is that happy hour ends too early (6:30).

Stayed at the Westin on Glebe, and this was just around the corner on the backside courtyard. Interesting setup wherein you can shop for a bottle of wine in the restaurant, pay retail for the wine, and have it served at dinner for a modest uncorking fee. Opted for the butternut squash soup as an appetizer. As good as it... More

At a recent conference, our group went to Grand Cru. I was expecting a decent meal at the usual inflated DC prices, but I was surprised. Grand Cru had well prepared, creative food offerings at reasonable prices with friendly attentive service with none of pretentiousness often found in good DC restaurants. They offer tapas along with entrees and a unique... More
