Local place made us out of towners feel right at home

We were in DC area on past night of vacation, saw 815 just 4 miles north. Dropped in to watch Lightning/Hawks and got a Po' Boy with Debris. Fair approximation of NOLA, needed better gravy. Bartender knew everybody and was very friendly. Also had poppers of some sort; very good, hot out of the... read more

We are traveling in town from California. One of our local friends recommended we meet here. We were with our entire family of 5. We ordered a Portobello mushroom sandwich, shrimp po boy, kids meals of grilled cheese sandwich, kids steak and jalapeno chicken sandwich. We ordered several beers, the local IPA and a Guinness. The food was excellent. The... More

I have been working in the area for months and have tried MANY of the local restaurants - ones on King, Duke and over off of Mt Vernon. This was exactly what DH and I were looking for - casual, inviting, comfortable and great food. Georgia Brown in DC is my favorite restaurant in DC. This one rivals the food... More

I tend to forget about this row of restaurants on Washington Street several blocks from the classic Old Town area -- not any more! This was a great find, with a different menu than I have found in Alexandria, and a very relaxing atmosphere. The food was very tasty, with a definite southern flare. We sat outside on the sidewalk... More

We loved the fried green tomatoes that we split as an appetizer, but both of our entrees were kind of bland and lacking in flavor. The tomatoes were cooked perfectly, not at all greasy, and came with a tasty remoulade sauce for dipping. For my entree, I had the rainbow trout with crabmeat in a citrus wine sauce - could... More

I began my birthday week here: The Oysters Rockefeller were the bomb! I had to come back for more. Their fried chicken was good too. During that week, I ate and drank there at least 4 times. It became "the hangout" One night there were 10 of us at one time, and it was all good. Nice people, and nice... More

If it's southern style cooking you want, you can get it here...it's not the best of southern style, but it's not horrible either

Sunday Brunch is always a winner. The Bloody Mary is still the best--spicy and full of flavor. Keep up the good work.

Good Southern cooking is why I go there. The service and food are outstanding. Southside has a very active bar with live entertainment on the weekends, but the restaurant section and menu are what keeps us going back. Located on the southern border of Old Town Alexandria, 815 may have sketchy street parking, but there is very a convenient garage... More
